Thanks smile Looks good. I'm edging more & more towards the Alien over the IPV
I discounted the IPV out of principle in the end, I'm personally not giving a company money who released a mod with faults. I'm very happy with the smok, it seems really good quality.

so I've ended up smoking again.

Can anyone recommend a decent leakless 'mouth to lung' device?
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Joyetech-Black-eGo-AIO-Cigarette/dp/B01CVQOMWM

Can't get simpler than this and it gives a pretty decent vape

I use an Aspire K3 tank with Triton Mini 1.8ohm Clapton coils on top of a iStick Pico (run at 19w) for my MTL set up which I can definitely recommend but if you want simple, the AIO set ups are great. I use 70VG/30PG juice from Lancashire Steam Co in this and it doesn't leak and vapes solidly for two weeks before the coil needs changing but it's worth noting this isn't my main vape, just the one I use with higher nicotine when I need a real hit

Both need to be kept away from pints!

I agree that for someone starting out the Ego AIO is a good choice. It takes away the variable voltage/wattage thing and has an adjustable airflow so you can customise your drag. It draws air from the top not the bottom so should be leak free if stood upright, but if air can get in which it must then juice can get out. If its upright then liquid can not flow up and out but if it falls over in a pocket over a period of hours it will leak.

If you use a bottom air fed tank with a decent coil it should not leak if you use it regularly. There is a certain viscosity to the juice that will cling to the cotton in the coil but if you leave it for 24 hours unused the juice will eventually seep though the cotton and weep though the airholes. Give it a wipe, couple of gurgly puffs and its back to normal.

I think its an experimentation process where you find what works for you. I have just swapped a 1.2om coil out and its not great, but I know it needs a few gentle puffs to bed it in. I have done it before new coil whack the voltage up and burn the coil, make sure you saturate the coil, but not too much and ease the voltage up to what suits you.

I've got an eGo AIO and it was okay, much better than the fairly basic Kanger slim thing that I had before, but I found it leaked a lot as although the top was supposed to need to be pushed down to unscrew, the pressure needed to push it down was minimal and a bump in my pocket seemed to be enough.

I saw a 2nd hand Kangertech mini Subox kit on eBay for £20 and a mate said his was good, so I bought that.

I've not leaked for me and it's a much nicer 'smoke' than the AIO. I've been off cigarettes for about 4 months now. The first month was the Kanger slim thing, then the next month was the eGo and the past 2 months have been the mini subox. The first month with the Kanger pen type one was hard going, since then, not smoking has been easy.

how much do u guys feel u save on money vs real cigs ?

ignore initial hardware costs

I feel like I have lots more cash these days due to vaping

guess that obvious though if u look at at least 1 pack of cigs a day vs 0 now

I was probably spending £20 a day on cigarettes - every day. Let's say £150 a week. I now spend £20 a week on liquid and £1 a week on coils. This is back of a coil packet calculation. smile I was a heavy smoker, so I should think I'm saving at least £500 a month.

I think I have saved loads, im just buying juice and coils these days. Ok I could save even more by making coils and mixing my own juice. But the savings would be minimal due to the small amount of vaping I do these days, about 3-4ml a day.

I figure about £34/month for vaping (juice and coils). If I was still smoking 20/day, I imagine that'd be nigh on £300/month.

I was £1000 a month on cigarettes, easy 60 a day.

Even totalling up all the money I have essentially wasted on kit I no longer use I reckon I haven't broken £2k yet and I've been off the cigarettes for coming up two years.

I've started a savings account earlier this year as I had some spare cash, aiming to have £5k by next summer that will be spent on a holiday. I never had spare cash when I was smoking, and whilst I'm sure I've spent some of the money elsewhere since I stopped it was only the last few months I really started to notice it

Couple of questions for the seasoned vapours.

Bought a 200w mod along with a TFV8 (and TFV4) tank last night on eBay. Been reading a bit about the tank today (yes, I should of done the research first) apparently they can easily go through 30ml of juice a day. Is that right ?

That seems like an awful lot to use in a day and would be costing me just as much as the fags.

Also, at the minute I use a Kanger Subvod. Will I be able to use the tank off that on the new mod, it's a Smok H Priv?

TIA

30ml/day would be impressive! If I go crazy, I can do about 12ml but usually it's about 6ml.

Most tanks have a 510 connection so you should be ok, the coils in your subvod won't go to 200W though, if they are 0.5 then 65 I think

30 does sound very high to me but a guy in my local shop boasts about getting through ridiculous amounts

You have to be careful, I almost fell into the trap too, I started vaping as a smoking cessation method. It then quickly started becoming a hobby. I was spending on coils, tanks, looking into rebuildables and I lost sight of the aim. I'm back on my Kanger tank at 0.5ohms and 35W, I buy premium juice as I'm using less and it tastes great.

Yeah I use 0.5 ohm coils in the Kanger so I'll give it a whirl at 50/60w on the Smok when it arrives. I actually like the Subvod but it requires huge puffs to get the amount of vape I like and the battery runs out too fast when using it like that.

The TFV8 is just going to be used at night when at home. For some reason I can happily use the Subvod all day whilst out during the day without having a cig. Then I get home and smoke 10 fags between 6-11pm confused

I use a TFV8 with the T8 coils at 135W and get through between 30-40ml of 3mg fluid per day. I just thought that normal for a direct to lung device.

Are you buying your juice or DIY?

I've only found one juice I really like and it's £10/30ml.

Simple fact IMO is that if your using a tank which guzzles juice you've got to make it yourself. I do between 20-30ml a day. That's in a geekvape griffin tank at 40w, I find any higher is totally unnessary, there's no need for 100 plus watts. Yes you might get a bit more flavour and cloud but is it needed?
Making juice is so easy it's ridiculous. It's also basically free!
