The Alien feels solid too although nothing matches the XCube2 which although its huge feels utterly unbreakable

I'd have a hard time buying mods from any other manufacturer I think

Guys, the Smok TFV8 Mini, is that also known as the baby beast?

Thinking about a new tank and have seen a few of you using it. It would be going on my Pico, would the Q4 coils run ok at about 35w?

thumbup

I thought it might have been you using it that way, the info from Smok was they run best at higher wattage than that so just wanted to check smile

Can you link me to the coils? Struggling to find a Q4, seems to be either Q2 or X4?

What could have caused this?

Poor quality hardware, not put together properly? Or just bad luck?

The fact that he hasn't really put any details in there says a lot to me.

My guess... poor battery safety and a lack of understanding about how it all works. Oh and probably cheap batteries.

It is unfortunate but stuff like this happens quite easily, if you push a battery beyond it's boundaries then you are asking for trouble. The fashion to run super powerful mods with ridiculous resistance coils is doing more damage to the industry than any "health" related issues that may or may not be associated with vaping.

Abso-fking-lutely.

Is there even a 18650 that can comfortably kick out 75W at 0.3Ohm? Cause that's what my dna75 suggests is fine, with a banal qualifier of 'read up on battery safety and make sure you know what you're doing'...

Saying that, it does somewhat surprise me that the performance of the 'legendary' batteries that have been out of production for some time hasn't been matched by companies recognising the demand that the ecig industry is creating.

He has put another post up of the mod. Looks like an unregulated mechanical mod to my untrained eye.

Little bit of advice please...

I have a VTC Mini with a Uwell crown tank using 0.5 SS coils and for some reason it keeps going into 'temp protect' mode after a second or two.

I have it currently set at 230C and 35W which I believe is well within the norm. Any ideas why it is doing this?

yes

My first thoughts were a mech with poor batteries & dodgy build! I've had a 18650 vent on me in a mech (fking scary!!!!!) Main reason I've ditched mechs in the last year or so.

Looks like he was using HG2's .....some fakes floating about.

A second or two is plenty to hit 230C... What should be happening is that at this point it controls the wattage to keep it there without going over. To check if it's all working ok, take the top off the atty, and blow on the coil once temp protect kicks in - the increased cooling through airflow should see a nice consistent level of vapour.

Don't know how the vtc does TC, the Yihi does it by 'pulsing' the set wattage, with ever increasing gaps between pulses if limited airflow or evaporative cooling. Evolv do it a slightly different way, by reducing the wattage provided but providing a constant supply.

Hope that helps.

Got my TFV8 Baby Beast today.

Looks great on the Pico and has a lovely airy draw on it. Currently vaping a custard, definitely getting more of the custard flavour from it be a more generic Vanilla on my Kanger but it's probably not the best flavour to judge

A mate at work has started his own site so have got some new juices coming tomorrow. The Demon Vaper ones are made by a friend of his so excited to try them. Also got some of the Binary juice coming too, will chuck up a review of them all in a few days.

He's currently doing 20% off and free delivery if anyone fancies some bargains

I found the melo I got with the pico awful, zero flavour! I went with the aspire Cleito, bloody good tank loads of flavour and it drinks a lot less than the tfv8 baby.

I bought smok alien kit about a month ago and it's been really, really good. Huge improvement from ileaf 35w + kangertech submini tank.

Good things;
  • I love 2 batteries solution.
  • huge fire button is fantastic.
  • baby tank from the kit is perfect size.
  • q2 cartridge lasts forever and IT DOESN'T leak at all, unlike kanger.
  • top filling cartridge is a genuis solution.
  • Menu is easy to use.
  • Integrated battery charger works well.
Bad thing;
  • Half of the black paint is gone, it's peeling quite badly.
All in all fantastic device, so much so, that I don't use ileaf at all anymore.

The Cleito is a swear word in this house, had an absolute mare with it, seems I'm not alone although I know a lot of people are happy with them, horses for courses I guess
