I scrutinised that one at the time, but I'd already started a protracted discussion about down-firing warheads, and didn't want to overdo it.

It's not possible to see if they are in freshwater or seawater, but they are almost certainly touching solid ground, not just hovering. The front wheels may be off the ground, but the rear wheels are either on the bank or riverbed (or whatever). The horizon is moving with the copter, not independently. I can't see even the best pilots being able to truly hover with the tail end slopping about in water.

oh, It's in the water alright. British ones aren't allowed to do it anymore though, tend to hover 5foot above it though (probably just as bad for salt corrosion tbh).

for example... chinny water landing... just imagine the ramp is down though. In some instances the U.S. used to fit a water bourne barrier around stn382 ish in the back of it so it could be dipped in without risk of flooding too much. The top of the fuel tanks is Water Line Zero.
