I have no idea, people come from all over, the states, Europe to see a few horses heads and a wheel.

its hardly Disney land is it.

that said I do enjoy a lazy sunny day sat on the grass mound with a BBQ at the Falkirk wheel doing nothing, then a 2 minute stroll back to mines.

I started a mahoosive argument by asking "Which side's heaviest, the one with the boat in, or the empty one going the other way"

Ended in a food fight and near fisticuffs.

The gondolas, yes that's their name hold half a million litres of water each

I once read it uses something like a kilowatt to turn them which is bloody impressive.

on the grass hill you get a nice view of the mechanism, its really quite a simple feat of engineering brilliantly executed, not sure its worth the 15 million odd it cost to build

Lad from Southampton if I remember correctly. There was a documentary about him going to Russia (Ukraine?) to meet another chap who did this sort of thing. Really good documentary but it made my palms sweat watching it!

There is quite a famous guy who used to do that... did it once too often and over balanced and lost his life.

That's the last image anyone has of him, as he fumbled the landing from that jump and went over the edge. frown
