Soap characters and plots. Although I am vaguely aware of the archers as Radio 4 is sometimes on when I'm in the kitchen.

Sadly though, many people are proud of it, as if there's some cachet about it. Some "cool" factor that marks them apart from the herd for daring to be different. The most common one on here is when Facebook or Twitter is mentioned. Some berk will invariably pontificate that it's a load of rubbish and generally sad that people use it. As opposed to a simple "I don't use it" or not saying anything.

It's rather pathetic, to be honest.

ETA - just seen Carrot's post hehe That's not what I meant though, that's fair enough, it's a valid opinion that using Twitter for that "event" seemed a bit pointless. What I'm referring to is the "Deliberate Luddite" who'll lambast something for no other reason than they don't use it, or understand it.
Sensitive about being a big twitterer?

Not at all, I don't use it. But I don't feel the need to castigate those who do.

Facebook, twitter, soap operas, boybands, car crash reality TV, celebrity etc etc. Quite happy to live my life completely oblivious to the workings of any of these.

I have a twitter account, I don't post on it but sometimes following comments on the latest good film or technology is interesting.

But yes, having a LIVE TWITTER EVENT!!!! for a group of sales guys telling us about their latest SAN offerings was a bit odd hehe

I'm not proud of ignorance about anything, but there are an awful lot of things that I don't have any interezt at all in, celebs, the majority of reality tv shows, the hidden depth of facebook (I can find usefulness in twitter though), pop music, fashion, the latest phones, male grooming, religion, are just a few of the thing I don't care about. Well not enough to moan about them anyway.

I'm not sure whether to be proud of it, but I have no idea how the female mind works.
Amen to that!

Dies the female of the species have a mind: Does it work?

Those are the questions. God know the answers. I am happy not to. Indeed privileged. smilesmile

Anyone that claims to be proud of ignorance of a subject is already too aware of the subject to be ignorant, if they feel able to make a subjective judgement about it.

I'm not sure I'm "proud" to be ignorant of things, I just choose to be ignorant of many.

Football
Gay sex
Celebrity culture
Horse racing
Citroen Picassos
3000m steeplechases
Twitter
Islam

It's not an exhaustive list

Rumsfeld would suggest that there are both known and unknown unknowns, though.
So you might know some of what you are ignorant of, but be ignorant of other ignorances.

(I am confusing myself now - so clearly I don't know if/how the female mind works either).

On a forum full of people who appear to try to be better and more knowledgeable than others, what things are you proud to be ignorant of?

Me - Celebrity culture and everything associated with it. I don't usually watch live TV, and can't be happier whenever I haven't got a clue what a Kerry Katona is or what the fk a Kardashiaianannn does...
Same here. I have no idea who 99% of the people referred to on the Daily Mail site are (I only ever go there because of Soovy's posts, honest!).

Hopefully you don't mean Donald - the poster boy for ignorance.
