To rule more square kilometres than Alexander the Great by the age of 25. I have already failed by about two years...ah well...I'm nearly there...I wish!

STW2010 said: Same as me. See my previous post on page 1. I also have a life ambition that I will own a Ferrari one day too (see my fantasy garage). Any particular Ferrari? While an F40 is my fantasy car from a very early age I know it's unlikely I can ever have one short of a lottery win. An F355 feels like it could be do-able one day though. I'll take a manual Berlinetta in black or red with non-black leather please! It'll be an old car by the time I have that sort of money spare! My annual salary before tax isn't far into F355 money.

I think one of the hardest is having reached a goal, to set another, then another...
I always wanted to work with cars when I was very young. I loved drawing cars, but realised I'd never be a designer, I didn't have the talent (and to this day, I'm unsure if I do have a talent). After a positive work experience at school I wanted to go into engineering - preferably car-based. I always wanted to do my best at everything I tried. So by A-Level time I decided F1 had to be the goal. I worked quite hard for five years, and now having been working in motorsport for three years since graduating, mostly doing F1.
I'm now really struggling to work out where to go next, for as long as I can recall I've had the same goal. Now I'm there I can't figure out where to go next. Should my target be to set a target? I should add I set myself smaller targets for each year (e.g. no debts, paying off car early, half-marathon, passing advanced driving test, so on), but I can't settle on a target in terms of my career.

From being about 8 years old ive said I want to be an architect more precisely get a phd - part way there by starting my HNC and HND in construction ...
At around 14/15 said i want to work the doors , 19 ive not long stat and passed my DS qualification just need to send off for the badge/license.
Become a millionaire be it asset or cash . IF all goes to plan I will be partway there for my first house by the time im 21 with regards to a 10-15k deposit the house will then be rented , funds saved , equity released and repeat .... Im sticking to this with a passion as everyone who ive said it to thinks im taking the piss but ill say it as straight faced and serious as possible..
The amount of contacts and knowledge ive gained already in pursuit of the above has been priceless at just 19.
I did say a ferrari a few years ago but the more i think about it the more im undecided at the min id rather have the safety/assets than a flash car.

2.5 years ago I decided I wanted to go into teaching. Just finished my training graded outstanding in all areas. Been offered a permanent job for September. 2 months ago decided I wanted out from my pig of a live in landlord. Just moved into a studio loft- bliss.
Next goals are hopefully move closer to the OH, get promoted at some point, and treat myself to a TT quattro or cheap 911 (think late 90s). Then marriage and kids hopefully. (looking forward to the last 2 the most- I know, I know)

Mine are only really around my career and what car 'boxes' I'd like to tick. Everything else is fluid.

I feel like my personal target is very different to most people. I'm not bothered about a mortgage, a specific salary or even a specific "nice" car/vehicle any more. My target is to have the financial backing/kahunas to do the big trip I've always wanted. Start in Vancouver and keep on heading south until land runs out (well excepting the Darien Gap of course!) I want to volunteer, work and explore along the way. One day, Rodney, one day

(Or not, as the case may be) True. I did one of those track day thingies, where you try out several motors. As a driving experience the 911 was by far and away the best car of the pack.

I'm 24. My ambition is to retire at 30-35 with a rather substantial garage (filled to the brim), a large country estate and zero mortgage. Oh, and a few summer houses dotted around Europe and South America. How am I doing? Errr..... EDIT: My previous ambitions were to lose weight and tone up, and to get a 1st in my degree. I achieved the former but then piled it all back on again after I met the OH, and the latter I was never anywhere near. So I'm determined to make this one stick!

1. Pay off mortgage in 5 years - on track. (with a view to a further mortgage on a second, bigger place before i'm 40). 2. Stop smoking 3. Stop "smoking". 4. Stop shagging anything that moves and find a woman that isn't either mental or a liar or married. 5. A 911 (even a 996 C2) by the time I'm 40.

Split up with my girlfriend of 6 years aged 24.
Targets set were:
Get an appartment in the city centre which I did straight away.
Clear debts (£2.5k) which I achieved the day before my 25th birthday and
Spend some time travelling, so I saved up money and holidays and had 3 months in SE Asia this winter aged 26.
Targets upon coming home were to quit smoking and get a new place with the new gf, both of which I've now done.
Career is next, although the temptation to go and see some more of the world is strong

I want to run a 4 minute mile before I'm 30. No idea if it is achievable but I'm going to give it a damn good try.

Last year: do a century (miles) bike ride.
This year: ride to Paris. Procrastinated for a while but thought "sod it", and signed up. I'm due to set off in less than a fortnight. Granted, not as lofty a goal as some listed here, but it's a special one for me (and I'll be raising money for a very worthwhile charity).
Next year: Etape du Tour perhaps?

Reminds me of a friend of mine who decided one day he was going to swim the channel, solo, with no wet suit or anything while raising over 3grand for charity. About 9 months later, he did it in a time of 12 hours and 45 minutes. For reference, as of 2005 only 665 people had ever done so. Now that's a target!

You can see the slide in my ambitions, especially over the past 5-10 years.
Initially I wanted to get a management job by 25 and a senior management job by 30 but stalled just before 30 after a few unpolite remarks to a very senior manager. Set myself the new target of a degree by the age of 35 and a PhD by 40 which I did by the skin of my teeth. Then I wanted to retire by 55, ideally 50 but that is looking more like 60 now after a divorce and spunking all my cash on a house. Now I just want to have a nice lawn.
I did once see the Lotus Elise on the motorway just after it was released and vowed that once day I would get one which I did 6 years later. Now I just need a dry day to drive it.
