Whilst perusing the pocket OCD thread, I became aware that some of us PH'ers, particularly the smokers, carry Zippo lighters.

You know the drill.

Hven't had a Zippo in about 15 years now. Found them to guzzle too much and always run out on a night out, which was always an irritation.

Cheap plastic lighters that you buy, lose and pick up along the way has been the way since then. Also it would always piss me off losing a Zippo, cheap ones you don't care about.

The last one I had was when Marlboro were doing a promotion back around 1991. You collected tokens from the packets and you could get Raybans, Zippos and other stuff that I can't remember. I had at least two pairs of the raybans (Wayfarers IIRC) and a Zippo. Happy days. Anyone else remember this?

Hmmmm, that days when smoking was encouraged via promotions and special offers.

I still have a t-shirt in a can from that. And, if I can remember where it is, and envelope with loads of pack pulls in case they did it again

I don't smoke or own any zippos but I do engrave them. I put this picture on one for a customer. Thought it looked pretty good (apart from the line going through his face ) but I normally do pictures of family members or cars.

I've got a couple of Marlboro ones somewhere from back in the day when you collected 'pulls' and exchanged them for smoking paraphernalia. Will dig them out, give them a polish and post up a pic.

Apparently so.

She said a gas lighter was allowed but not a petrol one, she even lit it to test it worked as a lighter and then said it wasn't happening.

How is a petrol lighter 'worse' and how the fk would you 'do something bad' with it over a gas one??
