I had a Gerber Suspension...

Broke the spring on the scissors whilst cutting a piece paper which meant the rest of the tools on that handle were now loose.
Blade went dull after cutting through rubber.
Flathead driver snapped off.
The tabs that hold the handles in place snapped off rendering the pliers useless. Wouldn't mind but I was only stripping some wire.

If you guys can make them last more than 3 months then good for you. For mine, stripping wires and cutting paper was just too much to handle

My Leatherman Charge TTI has lasted a year now and has taken a lot more abuse and still works perfect.

Good post, agree with this.

For proper jobs I have a Victorinox Swisstool. Gerber and Leathermans quality is far far inferior to victorinox.

Tbh, I'm full expecting the suspension to be ste, but for 20 quid, I figured it would be a bit of fun.

Will be interesting to see how it compares to my Skeletool.

I have a skeletool I refer to it as the £100 bottle opener.

Owning several victorinox swiss army knives and a leatherman skeletool I'd say they are comparable. Different but similar quality. For example the blades on my SAKs are much finer than the chunky thing on the leatherman.

I've bailed on the suspension. Cancelled my order and will be ordering a Leatherman Juice or Wave instead smile

Are you near a Gooutdoors they price match then knock another 10% off, never paid full price for anything that I've bought from there. Charge al is a much better knife if you can stretch a little more. Might buy one next week. Will pay around £90 at Gooutdoors. instead of £150..

Good call, you don't want to be classed as a second class citizen for owning a Gerber smile save up a little more and get the charge al, its a better knife than the wave.. ill get pics up tomorrow night if it in stock..

I beg to differ, the newer US made leathermans are perhaps comparable but I have always struggled with the steel used its far to hard (154cm / 440c etc) but ive previously had Chinese made leathermans that were terrible but had rather good steel consistency, victorinox have a consistent ethos and have always been made in Switzerland with the same steel that I can easily get shaving sharp, I have 15-20 SAKs.

Yes im a SAK fan boy.

Ive done a little reading on the made in china. It seams to be the accessories and sheaves that are made in china not the multi tools themselves. Whats your best Victorinox? mine was the Swisstool spirit till last Wednesday..

Parts used to come from all over the world (mexico, china, europe), not sure about now. Check out the class action law suit.

Best as in most expensive? or most tools or favourites? smile

most expensive/most tools, are swisstool x, swiss champ and work champ.

Favourites farmer & my first SAK which is a Camper which I got in the 80s, and my EDC and most favourite as its so handy and easy to carry is rambler, was thinking about switching that for a midnight manager but im holding out for a cree version.

I've got a crunch, it's a great little tool. But there's a silver line version which is identical in every way except tor the name and costs just £10 instead of £90odd that crunh costs.
