Mine's the same, with same leather pouch - it has been a faithful servant from 2001, and always has surprised me with some of the uses. Given the way it has stood up to some abuse, and the many uses, has been well worth the money.
I nearly lost it once going through security checks at Luton Airport as it was in my hand luggage. But when they saw the look on my face, they were kind enough not to confiscate it. I was directed back out to landside, and was sent to find a vending machine selling prepaid padded jiffy bags, which I was able to post the leatherman back to myself at home!
Mine went through LAX and flew to Sydney attached to the outside of my carry-on I only realised when I took my bag out of the overhead and it swung out and clocked me on the forehead.I nearly lost it once going through security checks at Luton Airport as it was in my hand luggage. I can only assume it was underneath the bag as it went through the xray and that it just shows up as a block of metal.

How do you go about having one of these in your car incase you get pulled over ?
It is simply a case of justifying it to the copper why you have it ie " i had to refit my number plate as it come off using the screw adapaer" kinda thing ?
I have a gerber suspension in the boot of my car, I unbolted the pivots and removed all the blades, so its now just a folding pair of pliers with screw drivers & a bottle opener. then if you put a swiss army knife in with it that doesnt lock your all set, plus if you need to hold something with the pliers while cutting/scraping/poking it you can.It is simply a case of justifying it to the copper why you have it ie " i had to refit my number plate as it come off using the screw adapaer" kinda thing ?
Got my Leatherman Wave in 2003. I swapped a spare RAF beret with a yank airman for his leatherman with the fabric pouch. In it's life it's been to war, fixed shelves, broken apart furniture, built dens for the kids, cut seatbelts, made firewood, and a million other things. It lives on my uniform and stays with me.
It's showing wear and tear now though. The smallest flathead screwdriver is broken, the plain blade is discoloured, and the scissors don't work very well.
I'll never get rid of it though. Strange how you can get sentimental over a chunk of (incredibly well) machined metal
