Tampon, where did you get it from?

Seems to be unavailable everywhere.
Would really like to know this too as my google-fu is generally pretty good but I've failed to find anywhere that is still selling that Silverline tool so far.

When my Wave arrived I realised that the quality is far better than my Suspension...

However, amongst other things I'm H&S manager at work and we recently took fixed blade Stanley knives away from the factory and gave them safety knives... So when I whipped out the wave to open a box I got chastised in the office.

So I just ordered a Style Cs for my keyring so that I have a slightly less serious looking knife that I can use in the office.

Most of the pics show them open, and I thought they looked a bit ungainly. Then last night I saw pics of them closed, and attached to house keys for scale. actually they look quite nice folded and on a keyring... The shape with the caribina makes more sense.

So i have a squirt, wingman and a Wave now.

The wingman doesn't get much use as it is definately the bottom end and less of a tool than a Wave. The Wave on the other hand has been used for nearly everything I can think of. Brilliant little thing.

As it is getting battered now and the fact I used a friends Surge I have decided to get one as it is bigger and better suited to my massive hands.

Went looking for a secondhand one here in the UK seems to be impossible as eBay don't sell them. So I had a thought at looking in the US. New ones with import duties and shipping come in at £105 with the 42 bit pack as well so definately cheaper than here and more stuff. Just before I bought it I thought I would see if any of the many secondhand ones on eBay US would ship to the UK found one with a buy it now of $50 and inc the shipping and import duties it has come to £57.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/leatherman-surge-PST-Knife...

Also found a listing for 5 secondhand micras for $15 plus $10 shipping (no import duties on low priced items). Figured at that price you can modify them and have a spare everywhere.

I will post up here when the Surge arrives and if I had any problems. I figure with the leatherman 25 year warranty secondhand isn't going to be a problem at all.

Just saw this one that had a broken serrated blade (send it off to leather when you get it and they replace the blade FOC) was for sale and went for $30, inc the $22 for shipping and import duties and you could have a Leatherman surge for £34 all in!

I use my squirt every day, unfortunately I lost it changing repairing a tyre at 10,000 above sea level in Lesotho in Africa. One of the locals had come to help and was amazed by the leatherman, he'd never seen anything like it. I really hope he found it when I lost it and it lives on up there in the mountains.

I had to get another Squirt to replace it.

I doubt it, honourable people, and I was on the floor clambering about, so chances are it dropped out of my pocket.

I hope you had a real reason for doing it. My place did it after some moron cut his hand open and let it get infected. Safety knives are quite possible the most useless tool on the planet.

Lots of STUPID accidents that shouldn't have happened spoiling it for anyone with a bit of common sense.

The style cs is great. I didn't tend to use the wave much because it's too big to carry everywhere everywhere, gets left in the car or taken in luggage on hols.

The style has decent scissors and is right there with your keys. Great for lots of little jobs and my nails now look great too because I file them like a big girl every time I'm bored waiting for sonething.

The gerber is resigned to a draw in the house for non-important jobs. It feels poor in comparison.

So the Surge arrived earlier this week. It is virtually brand new. It doesn't have the holder and it doesn't have the file replacement part but apart from that it is like new. Total seems to be about half the price of buying new on Amazon over here and still has the warranty.

Massive saving over uk stuff. Very similar to the wave just larger.

Would definitely recommend having a peek over on the US ebay for a second hand bargain. There are loads of "collectors" of knifes and multitools who downsize their collection when they realise they just own them rather than use them.

Love my old Leatherman FUSE.

The knife locking bit broke after about 7 years, Leatherman fixed it for free though.

Used to keep a little Leatherman Brewzer in my wallet too.
Handy for opening boxes at work.

The bottle opener is the worst designed thing ever though.
Putting it's jaw in the middle means the leverage is all wrong. The serrated edge often takes a bite out of your hand too!

I wasn't going to mention this on a Leatherman thread. But a Gerber Shard does now live in my wallet!
It's a bit bigger/chunkier. It is much nicer to use though.

No a leatherman a good old non threatening Swiss army, I used to carry a leatherman then a spiderco (one with the spanner). But I was always worried about damaging them, but a £20-£30 Swiss army can be easily replaced.

I always modify them this is my second one like this, the first didn't enjoy being used as a chisel being hit by a rock. frown

This one didn't really enjoy being put in the dishwasher so one side fell off.

It starts life as a mountaineer then I turn the can opener into another screwdriver that fits Phillips screws, and then turn the small knife into my favourite style lock pick. Plus two thin spring steel torsion bars that slide into the plastic side.

In my entire life I have never needed a small knife instead of the big one, and an emergency involving a tin of beans.
I have locked myself out lots of times and needed a longer Phillips screwdriver.

I have this - http://www.trueutility.com/products/tu247

It's brilliant and adds a negligible amount weight or bulk to my keyring.

British company too yes
