However, this was quite vicious, but the OP didn't do himself any favours either. He had 140 odd post to his name, and alternative name btw, before starting the thread - he should have known better. I know that PH has it's own place within the internetwebthingy but as I've said before, this site is a soft touch compared to some mainstream sites.

Cowardice has nothing to do with it whatsoever (although I don't actually mind if you think Im a coward-see?) It is to do with not taking hte internet too seriously and expecting the same from others. THings are just different. Everyone is different. If you saw some people mocking someone else in a pub, would you get up on a judgemental chair and bellow "Cowards. Disgusting cowards" in the voice of a 16th century landowner (which is how I read your self-righteous posts incidentally). I'll bet the answer is 'probably not'. And yet you regularly do it on here. Just different perceptions of the point of the internet I think, rather than different levels of bravery

I'm neither misunderstanding, nor ignoring the point - I simply hold a different view from you. blindswelledrat said: If you saw some people mocking someone else in a pub, would you get up on a judgemental chair and bellow "Cowards. Disgusting cowards" in the voice of a 16th century landowner No, because the mocking would at least be done face to face, and not from behind a keyboard, so "cowards" wouldn't be the first thing to mind. However, to answer your question, it's not the first time I've defused a situation where the "banter" has started to get out of hand. Besides, it's not the mocking per-se that has gotten my goat in this thread, it's the disproportionate responses to what was a fairly harmless OP. I'm not the only person who has said as much, I just happen to have been a little more voiciferous about it. However, we're clearly never gonna agree on this, so no point in going around in circles
