Silly me Depends on the trainers. I'm not advocating wearing your ASICS running trainers with jeans on an afternoon out but I'd be more than happy wearing these: or a pair of Nike Dunk high tops etc. Exactly. When we have been saying 'jeans and trainers' in this thread, we really mean anything from Converse, Adidas, Replay, Hugo Boss, DC, Y3, Armani, Porsche Design by Puma, 80's retro stuff, and anything and everything in between. I think Swerni has this idea in his head that 'jeans and trainers' means a pair of Matalan jeans teamed with a large sparking white pair of £30 Asics running trainers, thus making you look like a middle aged American tourist. There are trainers and trainers.

Papa Hotel said: There it is, the killer definitive post: fo fashion tips, ask schoolkids. Yup. I've continued wearing dayglo orange, yellow and green socks because no one at school took the piss. In fact, we all wore them. No one's said anything since either. Equally neither has anyone ever taken the piss out of me wearing my tie around my head like Rambo, like I used to at school, not at meetings, conferences, never.

Why are people hung up on the colour of socks? Ok, I understand about t-shirts, as this.. ..does say something about the person wearing it...but socks? Talk about pathetic.

I often attend meetings at work with a long stick tucked in behind my shirt, down the waistband of my trousers, poking up high like an antenna. I am an army robot, don't you know?

So if you lot are brave enough to wear white trousers white socks is a must, unless you're an extra special fashion devil, then you need to wear deck shoes and strictly no socks! Sure? His shoes look suspiciously large.

I only wear black socks. Means that I can just fumble in the sock draw and always know that I can pull out 2 socks that are identical without looking.
White socks are a bit chav I reckon.

Me too, can't be bothered with lots of different types of socks. Black goes with pretty much everything. That said, I wouldn't be wearing socks with sandals or flip-flops, but then I wouldn't be wearing sandals or flip-flops anyway as I can't stand the things.

White socks are a bit chav I reckon. I think you'll find they are not black. They are very very very very very very very very very very, VERY, dark blue.

White socks are a bit chav I reckon. I do the same. I also buy a new set every 6 months or so and throw away all of the old ones meaning I only ever have identical black socks in the drawer. White socks are definitely chav unless you're on a tennis court.

I'd always assumed that the only socks that came in white were sports socks, so a chap would only wear them for, er, sport?

I must have lived a sheltered life. I've never heard that about white socks.
