Evilmunkey that is awesome. I know there are some s in the world that make it all seem bad, but on the whole most people are good and don't stand for it. Must've felt great knowing he got his come-uppance

Lunablack/LeftMuffin, cheers, I won't be letting this one go - I'm fking furious that someone can just make a decision on what happened and if they don't change their mind will take it thought the relevant authorities,

Spain is the absolute pits.... And I can say hand on heart, me and none of my family will ever go back again...

Next door neighbour, robbed within hours of landing in Barcelona....
My sister robbed within minutes of landing in Valencia

A good friend... Robbed at the side of the road in his camper van...

We'd actually booked a 3 month stay at Benicassim, for the winter in our motorhome..... The wife has cancelled it and won't return...... We were going to meet up with some friends, they too have cancelled...
As an opposite point of view (which probably isn't in the spirit of the thread, I guess) I've never had any issue in Spain, including several visits to Benicassim and spending most of the time there ever so slightly drunk.
Maybe luck & maybe down to being a big(ish) northern monkey, but also down to being aware and not all of Spain being Wild West Mk II.

Well, I sent a stty email to the insurance company yesterday, copying in all the directors that I could find email addresses for, and got an email back from one of them at midnight last night telling me that they will do a full re-assessment. So fingers crossed eh? At least they answered...

Let's hope so..there was still a bit of an arse covering tone to the email, but then I suppose that is to be expected.

My brother had someone try and pickpocket him in Geneva, I spotted him doing it, my brother chased him down the street punched him and got his wallet back. He actually made it very obvious he went right upto him and started harassing him etc and got it that way
The thing that confused me is that there were three of us, and we are all mid 20s fit and healthy, and so it was certainly a dumb move on their part.

I actually really liked Benicassim, the beach, the campsite, the town.... We're all pretty nice to be honest....

But getting hassled every day outside Lidl, and Macredona supermarkets wore a bit thin... And then we had to drive through Barcelona, which we know for certain there are areas to be super vigilant, and basically don't stop anywhere until you're out the other side....
We arranged to travel with other folk for extra security....

And if I'm honest, that's not how I want to feel when I'm supposed to be on holiday....

OP was the rest of your time in Nerja good? I LOVE that area of spain cool Where did you stay, any recomendations on villas? we used to stay in the mountains but want more of a beach area.

I've travelled quite a lot, India, Morocco, Tunisa, Turkey, Maritius all of mainland Europe etc etc and I've never been stolen from anywhere apart from France, on the first night of my Honeymoon
mad and Isleworth West London is the only place I've been in fear of physical assault.

It was ok, to be honest after what happened and the stories we were hearing we didn't really venture out of the villa much...plus with 2 little ones we had everything we needed there.

If I was to be asked to go there again? Me personally, I wouldn't. Not really my cup of tea anyway, I prefer places that are a bit more picturesque and 'green' like Tuscany. Everywhere around Nerja just seemed barren, under-developed, and typical of a 'resort' kind of place. We only went there for a chill-out holiday and knew it wasnt really our ideal destination, but we know the owners of the villa so it was an easy option....if only we knew eh?

I loved the area, Mr 13th was out there for months on business. We were staying in the hills above Almanucar and had local contacts that showed us the most remote yet wonderful places to eat, one favourite was down a mad twisting dirt track that sucked you down and then spat you out on to the beach.

Great shack style restaurant but it took us until the second or third visit to work out why so many people went for a quick dip after lunch; they didn't have a toilet.

And it was about that time that I noticed that once on the beach everyone was naked!!!!!

Happy days wink

My new wife and I were in Barcelona "la Ramble"
She had her bag on her shoulder.
She felt an ever so slight tug, and suddenly spun around, just in time to see a woman disappear into the crowd.
The thief/pickpocket had used a scalpel/blade, to cut into the side of her bag.
They were obviously watching near the ice cream seller, to where the wallet, or purse was returned to after taking it out to buy ice creams.
But the wife is young, and so very alert, and she foiled them.
We went to the police station at the top of "la Ramble", just across the other side of the square, and down the steps to report it, but they were just paying lip service.
Later we slowly walked down "la Ramble" again, and my wife identified the woman who almost had her purse away.
We didn't approach them though, that would have been far to stupid.

I had exactly that happen in central London whilst getting into a ricksaw (sp) just cut the strap and made off with the bag and on another occassion a platinum and diamond braclet snatched outside Annabells 6K's worth that was prob sold for a song.

It's amazing how you forget these things once the insurance has paid up.

We managed to get a bit more but took a long time and lots of phone calls/arguing over policy terms - all in all I think we got about £1k back from a £2.5k claim. We had 'gadget' cover but because I just said on the form that everything belonged to 'us' they said we were only covered for up to £300. They freely admitted that had I said the iPad was mine, the sat-nav belonged to my 8 month old, phones belonged to my 5 year old they'd have paid up to £300 per person!!!! Couldn't believe it, kind of encourages people to lie on their insurance form doesn't it....wish I knew that before

Haha, she's used to it - I had to change it due to receiving unwanted attention from what can only be described as a bit of a stalker - might have to change my username again now if they are reading this lol
