My Mrs is there right now, first time she's been without me. I've a feeling it'll be a much cheaper shop. Conversely if I go to do he supermarket shop I come back with what's on the list, whereas she will come back with the contents of the list and all manner of crap.

I spent £99 this evening, and remarked to the checkout lady that was the first time I'd ever spent less than £100 in a Costco.

(Had to go back in 5 mins later, as I fancied one of the chicken fajita pizzas £6.)

We have been a member since I can actually remember. 20 years plus. When they use to have life time guarantees for TV's, we ended up returning our 10 year old TV that stopped working, this was only like 5-6 years ago and the TV was one of those massive 40 inch widescreen ones. hehe

I got a twin set from Costco in the US for $140, they are selling them here now for a similar price. It was Samsonite from memory. Seem decenct quality.

I went last weekend, spent £450 on stuff I don't really need. £260 of that was on a DSLR camera though!

we were convinced to sign up at a show,

we went once, once only, the "council is strong" there, never been back.

not really cheaper than supermarket

How rude - it's aimed as business people and professionals! Yet the 'cafe' in ours is always rammed with people lapping up the £1.50 hotdogs.

It's market positioning does baffle me, but they seem to do OK.

I got a triple set of Antler stuff for £130 earlier in the year and sold the large one for £70 on eBay.

They had samsonite in as well but the Antler stuff was quite a bit lighter.

Certain items are cheaper than supermarkets, dicated by their trading terms with suppliers and their lower margin requirements.

They're trying to move all their branded offerings to a own brand version so they can improve their margin mix and subsequently make more cash. Some items are good, some are garbage.

A guy I work with has a card (via his wife)

When it was his birthday recently he bought the cakes from Costco! Bought about 3 or 4 Trays full of Danish's and cakes. They were really nice too! And he reckoned he'd spent less than if he'd gone to Tescos


I'm borrowing the card when it's near my birthday! laugh

I’ve debated becoming a member a few times ... I used to have a Makro card but let it lapse

Been wondering if they sell the Royal Canin dog food cheaper than I can get it via amazon and then ebay
