Wanna free Bible, just ask. No selling involved Well if that's your view then you shouldn't have said anything and certainly shouldn't have just dismissed his first hand experience with a one word "rebuttal". To put it tactfully; I'm sure by posting what you have in reply to him and in reply to the rest of us asking to explain yourself you've left people with a rather dim view of you. OK, fair enough, thats why I do not usually get drawn into this stuff. apologies to all.

Thanks for that. They used to cost. My dad was in charge of literature and you paid for those magazines. When and if you got a donation for the mags it was considered a bit off if that money didn't go back into the donation box at the back off the hall.
They are probably a loss leader now but that money comes from somewhere. Those massive bethels and kingdom halls aren't paid for with donations from your friendly JW window cleaners.
At the end of the day it's a publisher with its USP of everlasting life. Sold to the poor saps looking for any answer.

Out of interest, where does funding come from? Donations and legacies?

Papa Hotel said: It's funny, how some religions are seen as fair game yet people are afraid to attack certain others. A lot of guff gets talked about the various Christian sects yet I've rarely seen anything properly anti-Islam without the PC brigade jumping all over it. And the Jews, we mustn't speak ill of Judaism. It'd be like saying we love Hitler! Could be because, like me, you've never seen anything properly (as in based on experience rather than prejudice, stereotyping and believing the red tops) anti-Muslim. EF spelling.

I'm pretty certain that from last time we had a JW thread on here that there are a couple of PHJWs and many, many who have had experiences (some good/some bad) with them. It also turned into a bit of an arguement.
It most be said that the only JW i have ever really got to know was possibly amongst the worst human beings i have ever met but not because of her religious views, she had fled South Africa after aparthiet(sp) once the "insert massively racist language" had looked like they might get more power, spoke often of shooting to cripple any "insert massively racist language" who she found on her land and lived for the day she could go back to shooting the "insert massively racist language" when they looked at her funny.
She caught the religion after getting to the UK, probably because no one else would talk to her.

Bloody hell, someone posts a different viewpoint and you're all hounding him, demanding to know his religious beliefs. Some of which have a distinctly accusatory tone, too. Nicely objective, then.

Nicely objective, then. Whilst you are correct to a certain extent, it would certainly be good to understand peoples bias in a discussion, The OP has stated that he was within the folds of the JW which adds weight to his viewpoint. No reason, I can see, why Greeny feels he cannot state if he is a JW or not just so we can have a little insight into his viewpoint.
