I can see why they could be suitable for a smart casual use. Go with jeans or trousers. I'm not so keen on the pale heel/sole but that's down to personal taste and I'm an old foggie! For under a hundred you can't go wrong really.

They look more like a £50 Indian made shoe with a slightly better sole attached.

I would look round, for £100 you should be able to find a nice Loake or Barker in the sale.

Yes - please where did you get those at that price?

I bought a pair of Design Loake today - bought from Swindon outlet village £170 reduced to £110 - i felt a bit gutted when I read that they are made in India - I thought these were the finest British shoes handcrafted in Yorkshire or similar.

Still toying with the idea of keeping them.....

I don't know much about Loakes, but I think the 1880 range is their premium offering and is made in Northampton. The other ranges like Design and L1 tend to be made elsewhere and are much cheaper.

Having said that, judge each pair on it's own merits. If you like the look and the fit is good, go for it.

can't imagine there are many luxury shoes made in the UK which could be sold at a profit for £100!!

True but if people are buying stuff to £89.99 and they like them what is there to lose? Wear them and bin them after a year rather than repair them.

They are absolutely awful.

I don't get the fetish around here for brown brogues (actually, I don't get brogues of any colour). But those, with the suede bits, are every bit as awful as those pimptastic fabric / leather brogues posted a dozen or so pages back.

I can see why they were in the outlet village.

They are Barkers, aren't they? confused
In real terms would there actually be much difference, except for knowing they're british?

Although these loakes are nice at £125

Or these Goodwin Smith at £100

I've seen far worse than those brown/suede brogues. I'd wear them as a casual/summer shoe. Not for work obviously.

I always wear some kind of leather shoe/boot for casual wear. What should I be wearing?

Adidas. I'll maybe put on my black waxed leather Caterpillar boots (nigh on 20 years old, refuse to wear out) if it's particularly cold or I feel the terrain needs them.
