Picked up a pair of these from Next yesterday.

Lovely fit and feel, a nice (cheaper) Loake alternative until I can afford the real thing!

It'll take a couple of days to get used to them. I felt exactly the same with my Sidi's. Must pay the bike store a visit near me tomorrow then - Just hope they have a set to try...

What's the sole (no pun intended) purpose of the inner boot? And do they still keep you feet well ventilated? - The last thing I want is a pair boots smelling like a rat's lair after a hot summers hoon.

Never seen a boot within a boot. Wonder if Alpinestars got their inspiration from the "Yo Dawg" meme scratchchin

Thanks for the info on these, and best of luck with your Mod1 thumbup
No idea, but they feel really comfy. They feel well ventilated from my experience of them so far smile

Failed my Mod1 though, stupidly put my foot down on the figure of 8 frown next test a week on Thursday frown

I've just bought my second pair of MountainLife Lockton trainers. I was incredibly impressed with how the first pair have stood up to 4 years of almost daily wear - for everything from walking around uni all day, to working in the garage scrabbling underneath cars, to riding my MTB cross country and downhill through all sorts of mud and water. Alas, the soles are finally coming off hence the new ones, and an interesting wear comparison:

Oh my God - 'pasties'.

I haven't seen a pair of those in years, except on geography teachers and/or Christians.
I was literally just going to say "pasties" myself, beat me to it!
Not heard the term "pasties" before.
Although I do get called the geography teacher on occasion at work - especially when I wear my corduroy jacket. hehe

I hear what you say. I bought these a zillion years ago: http://www.salomon.com/nl/segment/hiking-shoes.htm... . . . everlasting stuff.

Also thanks for the linky!
No worries, I'll post up some better feedback once I get them (which hopefully won't be long, my first lesson on a proper bike on Saturday!) smile
Please tell me you aren't going to wear those to a bike lesson??

Good luck with the DAS by the way, if you can already drive a car on the road, which you can, it's a piece of piss!
Same thing but on a bike smile

You bet I did! Along with florescent yellow gloves:

and a yellow Rossi rep helmet:

Yes, I know 'all the gear, no idea' biggrin

Now I'm so tempted to buy this just to go with it: http://www.rocketclothing.co.uk/LEATHER-JACKETS/DA...

Cheers btw, hopefully shouldn't be too long until I pass. I just don't like the slow speed stuff (hate the figure of 8, did fine at everything else) smile
