Can I have a bit of advice guys?

I normally buy cheap shoes, nice ones, but cheap ones.

I wear them literally 5 days a week all day, and they last me say 3-6 months before they get binned.

I’ve been looking at the Barker Newport in brown today @ £210

http://www.barker-shoes.co.uk/newport/

(im a size 14/15 so choice is seriously limited)

If i "invest" in a pair of these, how long will they last, with daily use?

Happy to spend a few mins a month maintaining them, if that helps?

Just don’t want to spend 5-10 times as much for them to look "worn out" in 6 months, even if the sole can be replaced.
I've been in a similar boat to you, minus the clown feet. Sick of replacing shoes, didn't want to buy expensive shoes and do the same though.

You absolutely need two pairs I'm afraid, on a rotation. And in a shoe tree when not in use. This will make a massive difference.

Then it's as you said, a little bit of time monthly maintaining them. Everyone is different but I've settled on a wax polish every 2 weeks (that's 5 days of wear per pair, and 10 minutes work). Then every month I'll use cream polish which is another 10 minutes works on top (plus curing time). Then another longer interval I'll use a renovator which is another 10 minutes work.

I also have ships rather than shoes, like yourself (size 14). I got a nice pair of barkers that I do use everyday (yes due to daily wear they are not wearing as well as they should be), however I have managed to go through 2 rear heels and a front rubber sole (replacements at cobbler before wearing through the original leather)

The shoes themselves have been great and are still rather held together (just the inner that has needed replacing) and should last another set of heels/front soles at least still, I have had them over a year and before was lucky if a shoe would last 3-6 months.

I got mine off www.walktall.co.uk when I brought them I am pretty sure, paid around £120 for £180 RRP shoe as they were in the sale.

I would have another pair in a heartbeat!

Edit: These ones http://www.walktall.co.uk/big-size-footwear/big-si...

Ill order a pair of the Bakers, and only wear them every other day, in between I have 2 pairs of cheap shoes I can pick from.

I wouldn't be a fan of the colour, as I can't find the ones I am after I think these will do, plain & simple

You should always try and alternate shoes it helps dry them out, keeps the smells down and also makes the shoe last a lot longer. So if you can buy 2 pairs maybe of different styles.

Is it bad to store shoes like this, stacked on each other?

Was all excited to get my new shoes rack, only to realise it's ultra narrow!

Looks like it may be for women's shoes?

I don't know, but I wouldn't want to keep my shoes like that. Maybe if they were in shoe bags so leather wasn't touching leather would be better, but even so not ideal for me. My shoe rack is simply three shelves, no dividers so easy to store my size 11G shoes.
