Funny you posted those Barkers, I just had a pair of the Loakes.

Thompson I think they are called. Very comfy.

So, how do you polish them then?

Wouldn't you get polish all over the suede?

ordered 5 different pairs of barkers last night with a view to sending 4 back!
Good Luck with that! smile

Shall we start a 'book' on how many pairs actually get sent back??? beer
This has been my issue in the past! I might stretch to retaining 2 pairs!
Was a good little fellah and kept only one pair. Cost £26 to return the other 3 fking pairs though!

I know they're trainers not shoes.

But a classic in white, Puma G Vila Specials from Size?

Wow! Now I know there's a core of us quite critical when it comes to arsenal and his adidas trainers but these really do make his look like bespoke shoes.

Sorry but they are not a good looking trainer in my opinion.

Good point above about the suede/leather shoes and polishing and would be interested in hearing how that will be achieved.

Good choice!

Which ones did you try on but send back? What put you off them?

They look like the sort of shoes nurses in care homes wear.

Cheers! I tried on two others the same style, one brown with brown suede which were v nice but too dark for the purpose; blonde ones with no suede sections but lots of punching and stylings - bit too busy those; and finally some different blonde oxfords which were v nice but I preferred the blue bits in the end! Barkers are great quality though, will deff have some more at some point.

In theory this should be a thread tailor made for me, but ...seriously wtf with all the polishing, shoe trees and bag stuff? I don't a single tub of polish or a brush, have never polished any of my shoes inc the Cheaneys and Churches, wear the same pair day after day sometimes and no shoe of mine ever sees a shoe tree. You guys seriously dick around with that bks? You obviously don't travel! Stuff em on your feet, resole em every yr at the local cobblers for £20 and away you go. £100 - £200 a pair, generally give you 5 yrs good service before looking a bit tatty, jobs a good un. Granted Bicester is only 35mins away and the various factory shops in Daventry & Northants are only just down the road from me so I probably pay a fair bit less than most of you, but you can't really be arsed with all this fuss surely?

Wear a pair of shoes for 4 years without any polishing or wax, or going anywhere near a shoe tree and they'll still look decent??

Stop talking ste.

Well his words were it takes five years for them to look a bit tatty, so 'not tatty'?

We all have different interpretations but I can't see there being that much difference.
