My other Loakes have got a full dainite sole like this:

Good in the rainy weather we've had, especially as a leather sole can be (IME) quite slippery.
I'm such a fan of that danite sole, I really don't see the point of an all leather sole anymore, not in the UK. When wearing them you would never know, and they last so long, plus they are so much more comfy as they flex properly.

I'll take a picture to show how much they flex.

This the Loake Langdale with that sole......

And you would never think it was not a leather sole to look at it....

I have now got guys who would not even entertain the thought of anything that was not leather soled who won't buy anything other than these sole units now. They feel like a pair you have owned for a few years the first day you put them on.

Yeah, that is me.

I'm trying to think how to do this, maybe I could have a 'Pistonheads' page with products on there reduced. I stopped my online store last year. We have another footwear thing we do that does actually make some money, cheaper shoes like Skechers, Caterpillar etc. The higher end stuff people want/need to try, too many returns if not.

I know the J Shoes would sell well looking at what folk buy on here, same with the Loakes, we tend to do 8-10 styles at a time, stuff that is very current but still classic. Also, some of the Chatham Marine stuff, the more funky Rieker styles.

I'll have a think how I could do it.

I see so many styles we sell on this thread, and if people can pay £159 instead of £205 or £130 instead of £159 it makes a difference.
I'm in the market for a pair of deck shoes. The chatham site is unusably slow right now though so can't tell you which I'm interested in. Do you offer other makes too?

No, don't stock that anymore.

The problem is they do hundreds! I stock around 8 I think.

That is why I said I need to get a page up on our site with the stuff we sell.

If it was a £200 Loake I would order it in, with a special on a deck we only make about 15-20% after shipping and vat, so discount would be crap.

yikes Poor shoe!!! wink

Am I seeing this right - the welt sewn directly onto the rubber sole? All my Danite C&J and Barkers have at least one layer of leather before the rubber to give it strength and support.

While I know I don't need a pair of shoes I have to ask: What are those? I adore the colour of the leather. I'm not really at a point where I need anything other than trainers but those have really seized my attention.

Hi Levin,

If you are referring to the brown shoes on my sofa (sorry guys!), then they are Crockett & Jones Bradford in Dark Brown Burnished calf leather.

The bad news is that I got these as seconds at the factory shop as they seem to be a special order and not available in that configuration. The Bradford design are currently only available in brown if you select Cordovan (Horse leather) and is quite expensive (~£500). http://www.pediwear.co.uk/crockett/products/3588.p....

However, that same burnished brown calf leather is used on a wide range of C&J shoes.

If you are anywhere near Northampton, it is well worth a visit to the C&J factory shop.

Hi FreeLitres,

I'm just realising I never specified the shoes I meant. Luckily, those were the exact ones that piqued my attention. From seeing they're Crockett & Jones I had come to the unfortunate conclusion they would be many leagues out of my price range, and I'm sure as a special order or unusual configuration they would be even more expensive. I may have to take a look through the other shoes in the C&J range (and hope I leave with my wallet intact!)

If I happen to be near Northampton in the future I'll be doing my best to visit the factory shops. I don't have anything really special to contribute to this thread but I've learnt quite a bit as a result of scrolling through it, as well as getting a bit of a look at what people buy. Thanks for the reply, as well as the extra detail.

Don't tell everyone, but some of the seconds at the factory shops (including those Bradfords) are below £150

Bought a cedar wood shoe tree from Charles Tyrwhitt. Seems very nice quality and hopefully will prolong the life of my shoes. Tempted to buy another now so I have one for each pair.

If anyone is planning to order online, Amazon30 gives you £10 off. winkthumbup

Unfortunately the shoes above have developed some scratches through use. I use normal Kiwi brown polish but it doesn't seem to make much of a difference to them.

Can anyone suggest any products to restore the colour/fill in the scratches?

Great shoe trees! I must have about 8 pairs of those now.

Regarding the scratches, those shoes look like shiny coated/bookbinder leather. I don't have any pairs like that so I'm not sure how effective products would be on them. If you have any shoe creams of the right colour, you could try those.

If it were me I'd just use some Kiwi Parade Gloss shoe polish. But that may mark me out as a philistine.

I'm in the process of ordering these at the moment:

Jeffery West Hannibal.

To be paired with a matching belt, pink Paul Smith slim-fit trousers, some sort of white shirt and a light blue Reiss blazer, for those who are stylistically challenged wink
