Very nice!

Are they straight suede or are they burnished or oiled in some way? Hard to tell from the pic.

Anyone with black converse, have you managed to put them in the wash and not have the colour run or fade? I'm looking to wash mine in the hopes of softening/breaking them in.

I washed a dark blue pair I had but that faded so much it almost looks grey (it is heavily worn in now though). Need a way of wearing them in...other then wearing them more often.

Decided to treat myself to some Burberry boots after debating it for a while. I'd read somewhere that they tend to skimp on basic packaging so I opted for the gift packaging. Not impressed but luckily it was no extra cost, and I'm not giving them to anyone as a gift, but I might enquire about getting a replacement box in case I ever come to sell them.

I even wrote "To Tom, from Tom" on the tags and waited 246 days until my birthday before I opened them. rofl

In all serious though, I read Burberry's 'minimal packaging', as they call it, to be flimsy and weak, so I thought the gift packaging might be a bit more sturdy.

Apologies, but back on topic - can anyone recommend a good shoe tree? The Charles Tyrwhitt Cedar ones are currently £20, is there anything better than that, I don't want to spend a fortune? I've just bought myself a pair of Loakes and want to look after them.

Cheers

Do Loake not their own? A quality shoe tree should be specific to the last.

The shoe trees from the shoe makers tend to be really expensive and they don't seem to offer a tree for each of their last shapes so the fit is never perfect anyway unless you are talking about their premium lines.

Be aware that some shoes can be difficult to get trees that fit. I have some Barker johnny which have a slightly narrow fit and most trees would not fit in at all. (I found out the expensive way) The CT trees fit all of my shoes though and I have about 8 pairs of those trees now.

Try Bexley for shoe trees http://www.bexley.com/Bexley/en/r/shoecare_accesso... 4 for 59 euros and if you wait for their sale to start (In a day or two) they normally do 5 for 59.

I can recommend the CT shoe trees, decent quality. I have three. IIRC, Loake make CT shoes so the sizes for the shoe trees are spot on.

Yep, I've washed my "older" black high-top converse about 4 times now, washing machine, in a pillowcase or washbag, speed wash (20 mins)

Come out like new and no fading at all!
