Thanks. smile

I also ordered a tan pair as well and will decide which of the two to keep when they arrive depending on how they match with a belt of mine.

Links to the boots here if anyone is interested (free delivery):

Great spot, thanks. I'm a 10.5 (45).

Any tips on what size to go for in these as they only do whole sizes? Do they come up big or small?

Thanks CDG.

For a while, my absolute grail shoe is a very similar model called Rosemoor in tan. These Weymouths gives me a good opportunity to test out how that grade of shoe holds up to my usual use. People say the oak soles are harder wearing so I'm keen to see if that is true.

Grail shoe? Really? Do people have grail shoes?

No more new shoes.

But I broke out the latest addition to the sock collection this morning.

Swerni approves, in fact he's on his way to buy some now wink
Is it some style thing that the laces are threaded different on each shoe?

Sorry, no experience of Loakes. I also usually take a half size and I would be worried about having to chose a whole size. Having said that, boots can often be generous on the fit as the are designed to take a thick sock. For a leather/country boot I would usually go down by a half size. Suede boots can be more true to size though.

Do you have a shop which might stock the model to actually try on? (even if you ended up buying online)

I'm typically a 9 so ordered a 9. Seems to fit perfectly well. My other pairs of Loakes have been good from a size point of view.

In your position I would order both sizes and try them on. You can always return them (at the store or via post). If you can only order one, I'd go for the 11. You can always add insoles and wear thicker socks. If the shoe is too tight, apart from stretching them (oversized shoe tree?) which is not recommended, you'll be a bit stuck.

I managed to pick up some rather fine shoes.

Crockett & Jones Weymouth from their premium "Handgrade" range.

As you can see they are wholecut (uppers made from one piece of leather) and have an oak bark tanned leather sole with hidden stitching. They really do feel high quality.

The RRP for this shoe is a chunky £495 but I managed to get a good deal on an eBay auction from a guy that wore them once and found them a tad too small.
I like them. cool

I have some wholecuts too - don't wear them often though as a bit 'smart' for me.

Quite like the shoes but couldn't live with that lacing..... frown
I really like it.

I like thinks just a little different from the norm to subtly stand out if you make the effort to look.
Thanks. I've taken stick for my lacing here before. hehe
I usually change to shoe-shop or straight lacing for photos but quite like messing with different styles when out. Some good, and not so good ideas here: lacing methods.

Nice!

Was it you that got the brown ones from CT fairly recently? How are they holding up?

CT seem to have some nice designs and many of them are made in the UK shoe factories.

Yep. I really like them; they're a decent quality, fit well and look good. Quality is on a par with my Cheaney and Sanders shoes, I think maybe a little better than Loake.

Another TK Maxx find: brown suede chukkas by Loake. Been impressed with the burgundy ones I bought a while back so decided to get these as well as a treat.

Nice find just ordered a pair.

What's the best way to look after these had a cheap pair and after being caught in a heavy shower on a night out seemed pretty wrecked.
