Tassels not gold bars. Gold bars are from the 90s, and even then.
And what era are tassels from?13m said:
I would suggest that the classic Gucci loafer, first launched in 1953, is very stylish. Not fashionable perhaps, but stylish.
Totally agree, and very well made too. I've a couple of pairs that I've had for years (black leather, brown suede). As a classic, they don't need to be fashionable. Though I'd agree that the tan crocodile are a bit 'Flavio'...TheAngryDog said:
Guys, looking for a bit of help please. I need a pair of decent shoes as the ones I have are pretty naff tbh, and not really good enough for turning up at clients etc.
I was once told they brown shoes are a no no unless wearing something like a brown belt (black trousers), and this was when I wore brown shoes.
Budget is around £100-£150. I aren't keen on Monks so looking for something with laces I imagine. If anyone can make any recommendations or suggestions then I would very much appreciate it.
Thanks.
Might be too late here, but while shoes and belt should match, I don't think black trousers with brown shoes is a good thing.I was once told they brown shoes are a no no unless wearing something like a brown belt (black trousers), and this was when I wore brown shoes.

Couldn't agree more with the anti-monk stance though!

I'm going shopping on Tuesday as I'm away in Belgium right now. Blue trousers would go with brown shoes?

I'm going to say yes on the blue trousers, but I'll admit to not being Gok Wan unlike most of the residents of PH!I just think monk shoes are awful, but then what do I know? Lol
Only other advice from me - avoid leather soles. Pain in the arse, leave you reluctant to wear them in anything other than dry weather and considering throwing out otherwise perfectly good shoes because you can't be bothered to get them re-soled every 5 minutes.

I've got a couple of pairs of London's that need doing but I've always been reluctant to use sugar soap etc in case I cock it up. Is it as easy as everyone says to use?
Hi BrabusTbh it works really well and does a good job (see pic below) one thing to note is that is does take the colour our of the trainers very slightly, I mean very aswell but I do me very slightly. The ones on the pic below have been done at least 3 times with it and are my ones that I wear to pubs and clubs mainly so take quite abit of hammer and have came up well
I mainly use SneakersER as a cleaner although I am out at the moment as that's stuff really is st hot but sugar soap really is good aswell especially for the value. If you do decide to use it I would advise to make sure you wash it off well after as if not the suede can become a little stuff, best thing to do tbh is to practice on an old pair your not that bothered about till you get it right before using on better models
Pic below is how they turned out, really should of took before pics with all the marks and stains on but didn't think. Huge improvement though

Cheers, I think I'll try it out on some old Gazelle's first then.
Yea mate. Best to use the ready mixed sugar soap instead of the stuff you need to mix to save any problems. Clean em off and make em damp but not wet. Go over each panel one at a time with a tooth brush and sugar soap lathering it up and then when done the whole show clean em off with clean water and leave to dry naturally not near heat, brush the suede regularly as they dry to bring up the nap of the suede. Like you say. Practice on an old pair first a few times
