Cheers, I think I'll try it out on some old Gazelle's first then.
Yea mate. Best to use the ready mixed sugar soap instead of the stuff you need to mix to save any problems. Clean em off and make em damp but not wet. Go over each panel one at a time with a tooth brush and sugar soap lathering it up and then when done the whole show clean em off with clean water and leave to dry naturally not near heat, brush the suede regularly as they dry to bring up the nap of the suede.

Like you say. Practice on an old pair first a few times
Sounds like a lot of effort for some old trainers!

Are they somehow valuable? I'd have just chucked them in the washing machine in a pillow case and if that didn't work, binned them.
Some Adidas styles are only released in small numbers and it's expensive to buy more than 2 pairs, so it makes sense to try and clean them up if they get dirty.

It's the trainer aficionados equivalent to the military polishing regimes some people go through on here for a pair of old school shoes.
hehe

That's fair enough. I guess it makes more sense to me to spend time/money looking after something that cost a good few hundred quid but I'd always seen trainers as semi-disposable. But now you say it, of course people would look after limited editions etc.
Not *just* limited editions, I've got a pair of green and yellow (or for you, green'n'yelly wink ) Puma Lab II's which are treated with kid gloves coz I can't find them anywhere, at any price.

Dito my Puma Cabana Racer's - not expensive, but hens teeth!

I really ought to try Danite soles sometime soon.
I am hoping that these are all they're cracked up to be.

Now next month I think I'll get a pair of brown shoes so that I am not always wearing this pair. At least now I can also bin off my cheap slip ons!

Yes.
(Ex FiL was a shoe repairer, he would resole in material of your choice, but was also a big fan of stick on soles)

Gents,

Some advice on shoe care please.

Usual process is brush all over with stiff bristle brush then apply thick layer of shoe cream (Dasco) using toothbrush to get into welt and cloth for upper. Buff off with by cream brush and then buff with a clean cloth.

Problem is i'm left with residue in the hles. Best way to deal with this?

I suspect that when others look at your shoes it will not be the first thing they notice...

These are the ones JD Sports had, aren't they? I've got the navy ones still, I had these but wore them on what started out as just watching the football but turned into ending up at a club in Shoreditch and they got trashed. Would love another pair.

Stick on soles are the way to go. I wear my new shoes until the leather sole is broken in and scuffed a little then have a rubber stick on sole applied. The shoes are then heeled and soled with new rubber covers when required and never need the expense of a complete re-sole. No trench foot, no slipping in the rain etc, much, much cheaper come re-sole time. Indeed the uppers on my shoes give out before the soles do with this method. Typically my everyday brogues last about 15 years with this method, my not so everyday shoes last a lifetime. Ok, the everyday shoes get new rubber applied about once a year but once broken in the comfort of the shoe is completely retained for its lifetime.

The latter. They generally need re-heeling as well!

I am pretty sure they are yea, found em on eBay listed incorrectly so had to have em, they tend to be selling on there for about £120ish new so got em for a steal tbh

I've wrecked so many pairs on unplanned nights out

I need some too as I almost stacked it on a busy Oxford Street a couple of weeks ago in the rain in my leather soled Church's.

Gizlaroc, any recommendations please? To give you an idea of styles I currently wear Cheaney Ewan, Church's Shergar & Maltby among others
I never really like to recommend any styles. People are different. I say what I think a good shoe it, but style wise?

I still love my Loake Gables. Got them in brown and now black as well.

I get they're rare, but they're not exactly good looking shoes are they? I do like trainers but find those a bit dull, do any of their limited edition stuff look a bit more exciting?

I'll just roll out a cliche here and say different strokes for different folks. I can't imagine wearing half the smart/casual brown shoes on here, but the silhouette of most Adidas city series trainers is really appealing to me, and the London is my go-to trainer for pairing with jeans. The problem is, is that they don't release them in many different colour ways and you end up buying up most of what is available. That said, I haven't bought a pair of trainers I don't like the colour of - you can get Gazelle's in every colour under the sun and there's plenty I wouldn't buy, even if they were 40 quid.

You appear to have what is called a "box" on your foot. Presumably they sold you one for the other foot too?
