Picked these up yesterday, 8 Hole Cherry Solovair

So nice, and much better quality and colour than the equivalent Chinese made DMs

Almost ended up buying these for the OH too, but she decided to be sensible in the end!
Er, Ronald wants these ones back too

If I have to be smart, I think Armani J06 or Edwins (can't remember the style name/number) are the best for me in dark colours but not proper selvedge denim, as that bleeds onto everything, even if you duct tape the insides of them!
Edwin ED55's are what i usually go for
Just checked mine, looks like we have similar tastes!

I like raw selvedge denim, based on the pair of APC Petit New Standards I have. They're my favourite jeans I've ever owned, hands down. They'll only get better looking as they fade and develop too. The first few wears aren't particularly comfortable but when they've softened up that bit they're really something else.

I personally like jeans a little bit shorter than some other people: covering the ankle, but not much more. Again, mostly because the APCs look spot on to me that way. biggrin

On an unrelated note, I bought that pair of red Adidas Milano mentioned a page or two back. Look nice, not as orange as I had feared and not so vibrant as to be ridiculous.
Glad the Milano worked out for you!

I've had a couple of pairs of Nudie Jeans in raw selvege that wore really well. I didn't wash one pair for a year and they stayed a lot stronger and the way the faded looked so good. And then my locker got broken into at the gym and some little scrote nicked them along with the rest of my bag frown

Ooh, now that is a sad end. frown

I was of the impression that they stayed stronger if they were washed infrequently? Maybe I've got that wrong; they definitely fade better with less washing (I think). The APC jeans I have feel like they've got plenty of life in them, so short of theft I think I'll get my money's worth out of them. A small part of me wants a pair of the Naked & Famous rainbow core jeans - they're utterly bonkers and a total novelty though, which would condemn them to an 'only worn a few times' entry on eBay.

Yeah, selvege denim shouldn't be washed for the first time for at least 6 months. I did a year, just sprayed them with Febreeze every now and then. Think I probably washed them three times in as many years.

Apologies for the thread derailment!

What is it about your photos that makes your shoes look like they were ordered by a kangaroo?

Me too.

I know there will always be elements of ribbing in a thread like this, but I find it really strange when someone posts some photos of their new premium shoes and they receive a load of piss-taking and snide comments on how rubbish they are.

It's the equivalent of posting a photo of your new Lambo among all the clios and mondeos in a "Show us your new car" thread and everyone saying how crap your new Lambo is because it is way too low/pointy and you they would never pay that much for a car, etc..

Tried out that Saphir Renovateur yesterday. Expensive stuff and comes in a smaller jar than you would imagine but seems to do a good job. You don't need a lot so it should last a while. Got a lovely smell to it, same as the John Lobb wax I purchased earlier this year. It may well be its the JL that small like the Saphir. I don't know what the 'ingredient' it but you can tell it has lots of it and it does smell great.

Feeling a little light headed nowdrunk

Think I'll stick with Saphir brand. Any advice on what else of theirs to buy?

I love Saphir stuff.

Get a coloured cream and a coloured wax to match your shoe shade.

I have both cream and wax in black, cognac and dark brown.

Not the conventional choice of footwear in this thread lol. So comfy, can't wait to try them on track.

It was probably FreeLitres that advised me too!

Renovator, Cream Polish & Wax Polish - sorted.

Another thumbs up for Saphir. Exactly the same regime for me too.

They do look very "long" is the only word I can use.

They look amazingly nice tbh, and if I were in a position to spend that much on shoes I'd have no hesitation in doing so.

Only thing is I'd be sobbing the first scuff or nick in them.

These were reduced by 30% at the weekend so decided to buy a blue pair as I've already the same in brown.

My last shoe purchase this year as the other half rolled her eyes when these turned up as I'm now up to 39 pairs.

Hopefully my carpet meets approval?

39 pairs is pretty impressive!

Roughly what is the breakdown between formal/casual/trainers, etc ?

it seems the thread massive don't understand that there is a jeans middle-ground between horrific 90s bootcut baggies and improbable spray-on jean-tights. If you must wear jeans, then at least put the same consideration into those jeans as you would into your shoes. Baggy jeans with shoes is an unforgivable sin!
You will excuse "the thread massive" if we don't take sartorial advice from somebody who seeks input and approval on their choice of shoes prior to purchase won't you? wink

Edited by InductionRoar on Monday 30th November 21:07
i had already purchased them, and wasn't asking for help on any purchase at all. Just as well i ignored the response because it was clearly deliberately bhy-snipey and not the type of robust male piss-taking such as the norm for this thread. It was quite obvious to anyone reading that no-one could be so overtly negative about a pair of plain black shoes and there must have been something else going on there. I would have accepted "those are a bit boring" as fair comment however.

Just been upstairs to check..

1 x Scott mountain biking shoes
1 x Sparco racing boots
1 x Alpinestars motocross boots (I used to own a quad bike)
1 x Nike golf trainers
4 x Timberland boots
3 x Timberland boat shoes
10 x Trainers
7 x casual shoes
11 x formal shoes

Plus wellies/flip flops etc.

Do I need to check into The Priory?
