Thirsk is an F Fit, so a little narrower, but they don't so a brogue Chelsea in a G Fit.

They will give a bit on the width as you wear them.

I suspect I'm going to get some stick for being a bit precious here, but I bought my Church's around 9 months ago. They generally get worn once or twice a week, but a few times it may have been 3 alternate days.

Last week the end of the lace (what's it called, the wrap?) disintegrated, and my attempts to fix it with tape look a bit too shonky. I'm tempted to fire off an email saying I expect better from a decent quality shoe, as it is a bit of pain.

Am I just a dick?

I doubt you are (a dick I mean).
After you've taken the trouble to send an email over the shoe lace.... well opinions are subject to change aren't they? smile

I'd get some new laces and change both so they continue to match. If you can afford Church's I guess you can afford laces.
Next time buy Barkers. They come with spare laces and a shoe horn in the box.

Apologies for my attempts at humour.

My son went through a period of relentlessly singing this to me, meaning that neither of us will ever forget the word.

Forget the broguing - check out these bad boys...

Different strokes and all that but..........

This has got to be a wind up, surely you won't go out in public in those?

Unless you are on the Pantomime or Christmas Clown circuit.

Sorry, to clarify, I was posting these merely for comic effect. I would not buy them (anyway they're ladies shoes, so won't be made in my size, not that I've checked....ahem).

Sorry to drag this up Stu but how do you find the fit of these? I've just bought a pair in my normal size 9 and when i first tried them on, i couldn't get my heels into the heels of the boots. After a bit of wraggling i got them on and they fit perfectly.

I know they'll break in and stretch a touch so it'll get easier and i intend to get a long show horn but i just wanted to hear your opinion on the fitting.

For what it's worth, i do have rather broad / Flintstone feet...
I found it was hard to get them on too but I use a long shoe horn which certainly helps. I didn't want to pull them on forcefully using the two hoops at the top.

I haven't worn mine yet since buying them as I've been at work mostly, but I'm sure that they'll ease up a bit after some use.

After the grief I got about my jeans I hope we can refer back to this picture and conclude that no matter how hard anyone else on this thread tries, they will never look as ridiculous as this!!

You do know that there is a chance nobody will ever look at her feet in those shoes don't you???? A slim chance but always a chance; yes, I am an eternal optimist!

Laces! Specifically blue laces for a smart boot.

Where do I get such things? I'd like them to be either leather or waxed but a fraction thicker than those you might have in a formal shoe.

I know I can google but if someone has a recommendation it'd be appreciated.

Thanks

Just picked up a pair of Loake boots that are manufactured 'exclusively for Jasper Conran'

Has anyone got any experience of them? Is the quality as good?

If you need further reassurance about your dress sense, visit the website whence that photo comes. http://www.thewhitepepper.com/

It's an oddly erotic montage of women dressed as girls, whose normal mode of transport is a Sunshine Coach.

Is that Operation Yewtree I hear a knockin' at my door?

Why would any woman go to such effort and expense to make themselves appear so fugly?

These are the Loake Burford with leather sole. They also do the Bedale with a Dainite sole. They appear the same as yours.

Anyone have any thoughts on socks?

Maybe I have weird feet but typical M&S ones seem to end up round my ankles with the heels anywhere but on the heel after a few washes.

Not bothered in terms of what looks flashy, but what is well made and will last without breaking the bank.
