Anyone have any thoughts on socks?
Maybe I have weird feet but typical M&S ones seem to end up round my ankles with the heels anywhere but on the heel after a few washes.
Not bothered in terms of what looks flashy, but what is well made and will last without breaking the bank.
Paul Smith for me, loads of colours and last really well. Maybe I have weird feet but typical M&S ones seem to end up round my ankles with the heels anywhere but on the heel after a few washes.

Actually I did pick up half a dozen pairs a couple of weeks back when I spotted them in a 50% off.Interestingly they're all multi-stripe just different colours yet some are made in the UK, some in Thailand.
Sales might re-occur but in the meantime...

For plain, solid colour quality socks; Morley Wool Blend and if you find them Wolsey Wool Blend. Typically 69/70% wool, good quality, medium weight and around £12-£14 for double pack. They last forever.Maybe I have weird feet but typical M&S ones seem to end up round my ankles with the heels anywhere but on the heel after a few washes.

You will normally only find them in the more traditional gentleman's outfitters type shops though.
Over the calf socks (I don't use them myself) won't sag or fall down. Over the knee is the extreme version.
Depending on your personal odour or lack thereof, consider wearing them twice before washing. Wool is better at not getting stinky than most synthetics, and the wash does more damage than wearing them does.

The Morley website is shockingly poor.
The range is considerably larger than shown, in styles, colours and fabrics.

Following some pretty extreme orthopaedic surgery in 2011, I've struggled to find (non trainer type) shoes I can wear for a whole day in comfort.
I've found them at last.

It's the Hyde Boots. I spotted it by chance at Debenhams instore at 50% off. From £230 to £115. Not too bad I'd say.
Nice price! I'd buy those at that price in a heartbeatETA: Did you buy true to size, or did you go down half a size from your usual shoe size? Whats the fit like?

These are the Loake Burford with leather sole. They also do the Bedale with a Dainite sole. They appear the same as yours.
I have the Thirsk version of these. Here's a question for the fashion pros. These look great with blue jeans, however I would like to wear these occasionally at work. They won't work with normal formal trousers, so any suggestions on what I could wear other than jeans?
I have two other pairs of Loake shoes which I wear for work in a more formal setting, but I would like to introduce the boots into the rota.
Just after some advice, I was thinking about buying a pair of Joeseph Cheaney shoes, is it worth driving up to the factory over the Christmas period or wait until January, assuming they have some sort of mass clear out of stock in January
Anyone know if they have a clear out in January, also their web site currently states that there is a sale on now, what sort of discount is currently available from the factory?

Give them a call but I was there a couple of weeks back (look a few pages back on this thread) and would say it's well worth a visit.Anyone know if they have a clear out in January, also their web site currently states that there is a sale on now, what sort of discount is currently available from the factory?
If you're over Northampton way you may want to look at visiting a few of the other factory shops in the area, but from the ones I visited Cheaney by far had the best selection.

I get a lot of favourable comments so you can carry it off. They are quite "Orangey" though so you need to be confident.
I had another pair of boots delivered today (just received a text from Yodel) pics to follow tomorro and feedback welcome..

They have dropped the Morley name recently, they have gone back to Wolsey from around October time. I think they will carry on with Morley name with some of the cheaper end stuff, but move all the better quality items back into Wolsey branding. You will normally only find them in the more traditional gentleman's outfitters type shops though.
