Needed some new slippers and don't really like the classic Moccasin style, so I have just bought these:

Very comfortable, and more stylish than the usual suspects.

I went a size up for a relaxed fit.

They don't look new in the photo but they are.

New to you maybe, but come on, if they are brand spanking then someone's had your pants down. Creases, frayed stitching etc...

Jesus wept, they're awful! I can't work out what I dislike most, the clumsy square toes or the dubious top and side leather.

No desire for a conflict, but;
That's a bit harsh isn't it? Given the admission that it's his "first half decent smart shoe.".
I'm not a big fan of square (or pointy) toe shoes myself, and I wouldn't personally go with the top and side leather detail either. But as we have no idea what they are to be worn with...
It's a start, and with a decent brand, for a start too.
I wear almost exclusively Barkers for business formal/smart wear. They have a particular (or is that peculiar? smile) last that fits me as though they had been made for me, irrespective of style (so far).
Everyone has to start somewhere.

Agree with goaty, just no need for such nasty comments.

Being nice is underrated, some people should try it some time wink

Though people's carpets and socks are a valid target for ridicule.

I expect most all of us have stepped on someone's toes, intentionally or inadvertently, on here at some point.
It can be quite surprising what people will get upset about sometimes.

But this is about shoes, and my comments were intended more to be encouraging to the owner of the shoes in question rather than a 'pop' at the comments. However it came out.

Someone must have purchased shoes this weekend gone; get this thread back on track.... smile

It is a badge of honour in these parts to ridicule others.

Generally speaking such comments are only ever made by posters who don't contribute their new purchases to the thread.

The soles were brand new I can assure you but then they could have just been worn on carpet for a year or two smile

Not sure.

They did come from Italy (all UK suppliers sold out) and took a while to arrive, maybe they were walked in for delivery.

I like the boots.

However:

Do you have very wide feet as the lacing is a bit far apart.

Your jeans are a bit "Dad jeans" ie baggy.

Carpet could do with a vacuum.

Well thanks for the comments.

1. Not tightened / tied up the laces, only tried on, they pull up nicely.
2. Dad jeans, well what can I say, I'm a dad
3. Wife will be taken outside and given a good shoeing.

Not with your new shoes I hope. You should break them in first.
