Jesus wept, they're awful! I can't work out what I dislike most, the clumsy square toes or the dubious top and side leather. That's a bit harsh isn't it? Given the admission that it's his "first half decent smart shoe.".
I'm not a big fan of square (or pointy) toe shoes myself, and I wouldn't personally go with the top and side leather detail either. But as we have no idea what they are to be worn with...
It's a start, and with a decent brand, for a start too.
I wear almost exclusively Barkers for business formal/smart wear. They have a particular (or is that peculiar? ) last that fits me as though they had been made for me, irrespective of style (so far).
Everyone has to start somewhere.

Being nice is underrated, some people should try it some time

I expect most all of us have stepped on someone's toes, intentionally or inadvertently, on here at some point. It can be quite surprising what people will get upset about sometimes.
But this is about shoes, and my comments were intended more to be encouraging to the owner of the shoes in question rather than a 'pop' at the comments. However it came out.
Someone must have purchased shoes this weekend gone; get this thread back on track....

Agree with goaty, just no need for such nasty comments.

It is a badge of honour in these parts to ridicule others. Being nice is underrated, some people should try it some time
Generally speaking such comments are only ever made by posters who don't contribute their new purchases to the thread.

New to you maybe, but come on, if they are brand spanking then someone's had your pants down. Creases, frayed stitching etc...
The soles were brand new I can assure you but then they could have just been worn on carpet for a year or two They did come from Italy (all UK suppliers sold out) and took a while to arrive, maybe they were walked in for delivery.
