Hmmm, the 25% off still works, but KG have cranked a lot of the prices up since I posted.
Many barker models were shown as about £165 BEFORE you got a further 25% off when doing the code. Now, most of them are listed at the usual RRP of £220.
Damn, I should have snapped up those tan and blue suede McCleans while they were dirt cheap!

Then two years ago I went to see a guy who made Orthotics... I had already had LOADS made in the past on the NHS, none worked, some made things worse. This guy used new technology... a 3D scan of my feet, with the insoles milled on a machine out the back... It was expensive, but I gave it a go.
The first insoles were a revelation. I went from suffering quite severe pain after walking 1 mile in a day, to being able to walk 5 miles with greatly reduced pain! I was happy, but he wanted to try to improve it more... so he made me another set, with more correction, but these were a step to far, but the third set were perfect. On holiday I was walking 10 miles a day, with virtually no pain.
Its a life changer for me... I have just gone 60 and wish I had found this guy earlier in my life...

k you took a job working in a warehouse. reminds me of my british steel days where one of the guys had a crush injury to his hand so they made him a storeman. poor bugger couldn't lift anything.

Whilst I understand the 'medical' need for them, have you tried the decent insoles and adjustments that you have said made a hell of a difference in 'proper' shoes? Or even shoes that just look a little less 'special'?

Staying on the theme of "medical"/NHS shoes, here are a pair of my latest modified shoes. When I was young I had a condition called Pethes disease which affects the hip, which in my case resulted in a leg length difference of 25mm (other than that I am fine). When I was young the standard practice was to glue a big bit of rubber onto the sole of your shoe, but now they have refined their methods (I wear a heel insert and get 15-17mm built up outside. I bought these (amongst others) in a sale at a Nike outlet in Florida at Christmas ($35) and have only just got around to picking them up from the hospital that modified them - (the modified shoe looks "bigger" in the picture than it does in reality, honest!)

Docs rock. I posted a lovely pair of high heeled DM shoes earlier in this thread which caused a minor storm in a teacup. BTW AshB, tell your wife, those Louboutins are lovely!

The funny thing is, they actually look really comfortable and I'm sure the ludicrously high top could be concealed under jeans quite well.
