It is nice to see the variation on this thread and part of the fun of a purchase for me is the banter on here.
I absolutely agree.

I see shoes on here I already have, some on here I like, some on here I know I'd never buy, and some that make me wonder if maybe I should. The eclectic selection and banter (and, when you need it, buying and care advice) is what makes the thread an amusing distraction.
Couldn't agree more.
It's a great thread, for all the points mentioned above smile
I also entirely agree.

The thread has somehow also avoided the pompous boasting that seems to go on in most of the other threads about buying stuff.

They'd go well with your trousers.

Your photo is one of the most British things I've ever seen. Please tell me you were wearing some kind of tweed cap/hat also, but not inside of course. hehe
Absolutely. Indeed, if you look closely you can just see a tweed jacket under that coat too.

Don't forget the gun dog on the red leash, obediently sat just out of shot.

Arrived today Adidas Jeans and Topanga, would seriously reccomend the Topanga for £40 delivered in the size sal

Now I am firmly in the trainers are very not me, but I really like those blue ones.

Where is the best place to buy this type of <old fogey mode> casual footwear for young people? <old fogey mode off>

I'm a 10.5/45; can one safely order the right size or is it go up/down a bit?
The blue ones are Size exclusive release so they will be only people selling them. These size up maybe a little 2 big and with it normally hard to get half sizes i'd go for a 10, they have free delivery and return anyhow (not looked if they have sold out yet as they usually do but if so they will have them back online in a week or 2)

Pair of hand welted suede derbys from my new favourite maker.

A long overdue pair of suede shoes and a nice touch are the rounded leather laces.

They look nice!

A browner colour and I could have a pair quite happily!

Are you familiar with their lasts/sizing? As I can see no UK outlet it's kind of tricky sizing wise.

I checked too, and they don't go up to my size, so I don't have to worry about the price smile

There are very few stockists worldwide and none in the UK so unfortunately purchases do have to be made through their e-shop.

I had no way of getting measured for their sizing either but Alexandra (the wife of the company owner) is extremely helpful in that regard. She advised that most of her customers take the same size as they do in John Lobb, Gaziano & Girling and Edward Green which proved to be the case for me (7E).

Zonkey do fit less snug than the English makers but that (IMO) suits the more casual styles they make anyway and they certainly do not require sizing down as the length (from the heel to the ball of the foot) is the same as my other shoes - obviously toe boxes vary depending on the style of the last.

Both my Zonkeys have been on the same last (sailor) and fit exactly the same - which isn't always the case with shoes and boots on the same last but they appear to be very consistent and apparently once you have established the size you take in one last it is the same across all their lasts.

not sure i'd want to drop €800 on a pair of shoes if i couldn't at least try them on or they had an excellent returns policy and insured postage service!

7E? Assuming you are a bloke (and if you aren't you're clearly a butch lesbian) you must have a field day in shoe sales.

To be honest I was quite reluctant myself having checked the cost of tracked shipping to back to Vienna - I was understandably relived when they fitted.

You would think so wouldn't you? Unfortunately that hasn't been the case so far.

Morning gents Ive been asked to be a groomsmen for a friends wedding I'm after some advice for wedding shoes to go with the following suit the we are wearing, I'm in boots all the time for work and as such haven't got any good shoes so some pointers would be appreciated ideally I need to try them in shop (London) due to a broken toe that hasn't set right and pushes on the side of boots budget up to £150

Black oxfords would be my choice - preferably with leather soles.

Does anyone know who makes shoes for Reiss?
Spotted these in a shop on the weekend;
Reiss Colin

I tried them; lovely comfortable feel.
However, I seem to recall reading about potential issues with wholecut shoes?
And while I would expect them to be from a reasonable shoemaker, I have no idea who it might be.

Can't help I am afraid. But I tried on some Reiss shoes a couple of weeks ago and thought they seemed very nice for "high street".

By the standards of this thread, isn't that a most thoroughly brutal put-down? smile

yikes
My butt hurts so bad, I won't be able to sit for a week hehe

However, those were exactly my thoughts in fact. But I am by no means in the bespoke budget range these days.
I would not normally even look at shoes in a high street menswear shop, but I was having a browse for ideas (not shoes), when I saw those.
