So was I! They were bought to replace a pair of beaten up hush puppies that didn't cost a great deal more. They went straight back, didn't like anything about them, personally. Colour was not great, the last was awkward, the welting was poor in my opinion. My conclusion was there's a reason why Goodyear welted shoes cost upwards of £100. Others might find differently though!

Anyone going for the new release of the Adidas Gazelle patterned after the 1991 version? Schuh has them listed at £75 but I don't know what they're like, quality-wise.
Heard they are meant to be good quality but I pretty much refuse to buy any pair of Gazelle's for full price as they all tend to end up on the sale rack. Still waiting for the tropic/melon Gazelle indoor's to go on sale hahaarsenalmorris said:

Not bad a price considering the rarity of them and the fact that Adidas and Nike seem to be pricing their trainers for close to £100 these days
I'd expect them to be more than that TBH. I haven't bought trainers for anything but the gym in many years, but I remember buying a pair of Nike Air 180 in the early 90s. I remember it well for two reasons; it was the first time I wore contact lenses and was walking around town to 'test drive' them when I spotted the Nikes which looked so new and fresh with my new found vision. I didn't even question the whopping price tag of £125, so happy was I not having to wear specs.LordGrover said:

I think the decider for me will be whether the leather is that nasty corrected grain/coated/shiny stuff.
I'm intrigued more than anything else.
You'll find corrected grain on shoes a lot more expensive than that! Loake and Barker certainly have ranges that feature it. If you are spending less than £200 for a pair of shoes I'd think there's a good chance of corrected grain. I'm intrigued more than anything else.
