It is a distressing trend I have noticed (the boots in question aside)...
None of the shoe makers seem to be offering a spectator shoe with simple, traditional white leather. They all seem to be chopping up bits of hotel carpet for re-purposing these days.
Even walking the length of Jermyn Street, I found nothing, though I did see a very dapper looking chap sporting a pair of brown and white spectators.
Plus, white leather is the work of the devil.

Spectators are a style of I have never quite gelled with - they are a little too much 1950's gangster and golf club for me.

With the navy blue, pink pinstripe suit, and grey fedora (at a rakish angle), is more of a 1930's gangster look
White leather is a bit scary as you say, but a simple brown/tan and white spectator are what I'm after, for a more casual look. With a sports jacket rather than a suit I should think, and only on dry days of course

They are quite possibly the most hideous and ridiculous shoes I've ever seen. With the navy blue, pink pinstripe suit, and grey fedora (at a rakish angle), is more of a 1930's gangster look

a being flamed reference? not arsed tbh.i was after a pair of grenson triple welted boots but they weren't available in my size. for what i paid i think the cheaneys are a good buy and i like the fact they're slightly different without being too much. something like a ted baker boot would cost me more back home than these did.
i have some spectator shoes - blue and grey cole haan ones with the nike sole - but they're a very casual design. i remember the tan and blue barkers a few on here bought last year. cambridge? bloody horrible imo.

I've had a look at them in the shop, better in tan and cream, but the fabric just doesn't look as good a leather.i have some spectator shoes - blue and grey cole haan ones with the nike sole - but they're a very casual design. i remember the tan and blue barkers a few on here bought last year. cambridge? bloody horrible imo.

They're certainly 'not for everyone' and not for every occasion either.
