I'm surprised anyone was playing in Chucks in the 1970s - they were a 60-odd year old shoe even back then.

A quick google suggests most professionals were wearing Adidas Superstars in the 70s.
Probably. By the late 70s most of us were wearing Nike or Adidas. Much more comfortable and a lot easier on the feet when running on hardwood floors. Quite a bit more expensive too, so a few players still had the trusty Converse.
The Chucks weren't considered a classic then, just a bit embarrassing; out of fashion don't you know smile
Did you play much professional basketball?

None at all. Ultimately, at 6'1" I was too short, and quite simply lacked the skills to overcome that disadvantage.
It's very difficult to outplay someone of a similar skill level when they are 4-8 inches taller than yourself and outweigh you by 30-40 lbs.

I hadn't seen "proper" basketball players in the flesh until a few months ago. I hadn't appreciated how absolutely massive those dudes are.

Massive feet too! I saw a pair of Shaq's size 22 shoes on display once, they were ridiculous.

Are you stood on a TV screen that's had the aerial pulled out? Nice shoes BTW, details?

Thank you. Don't know the maker, bought from and labelled Charles Tyrwhitt but we all know they don't make them. Click.

They've got better as they've worn a little and have a few creases. wink

Are they made in India? I think I know the factory.

I tried some of those on quite recently. I thought they looked dated. Fine in the 90s, but a bit too cowboy for today.

Know what you mean, mine are the lighter colour. They really are comfy as chuff, right from the first wear. If the jeans are anything other than a really straight leg then they do look a bit 'Top Gear Presenter', but by and large they get plenty of wear from me.
