They are the most horrible shoes I have ever seen.
Indeed.

And that includes some of the hideous Boardwalk Empire, Nucky Thompson style, two-tone brogues.

Awful.

They look like the kind of thing 1960s sci fi film makers thought we'd all be wearing in the year 2000, whizzing around with our jetpacks whilst eating a 3 course meal in tablet form.

fking preposterous.

Looks a bit like a heavy car crash with the occupant's brains spilling out of the back.

I give you the Adidas Terrex Mid Swift R GTX.

I just bought a pair of these for general dog walking duties.

Tread made by Continental so very PH indeed.
They should be here tomorrow smile
Are they waterproof?

Me too and I need a new pair of boots for walking the dog. They are quite expensive though, given what I'd be using them for.

I need something waterproof that isn't such a faff as wellies and liners.

Yes Gore-text waterproof stuff and for non faff surely you can't beat no laces wink

I like those Adidas boots. I was looking for something similar myself but they don't come in my size (13) these did so a new pair of Merrells have been bought.

I toyed with getting Sketchers as I wanted something that was a cross between a shoe/trainer and could be worn casually as well as in the gym but the Merrells caught my eye.

No comments allowed on my choice of carpet

Apologies for anti gravity pic!

Yes, so long as they are the Goretex ones. I've had mine for dog walking for the last year and are very comfy, slight issue with the speed lacing system as it's snapped twice for me. Also, the soles aren't as hard wearing as they look - mine have almost worn down after 12 months of medium/heavy road use.

All in all though, they are ideal for dog walking.

Fair point. When I said casual, I meant for walking. I'm not really into trainers so these cross the divide in a sense. Ok with jeans and in the gym to a lesser extent.

They are the sort of thing I'd wear on a plane and get plenty of use on holiday.
