I think I paid £375 for a small suite when I took Mrs 13M there a couple of years ago. That included a bottle of champagne and a birthday cake. That's quite good value in London terms, isn't it?
That would be.But as the normal rate is more than that for a room and more than double for a junior suite you got a deal of deals. Especially including the Pop.
I have stayed a couple of times for parties and it's
a) not as good as it thinks it is
b) farking expensive, even just for drinks.
I do, however, remember them strictly adhering to the "no sportswear at breakfast" dress code, when a lanky Russian showed up in a shell suit. He was initially asked to leave but when he protested he was seated behind a curtain.

If you're wearing a jacket to dinner it never comes off whilst you're eating - sartorial faux pas. And it never gets hung over your chair unless of course you're in Pizza Hut or the like when someone can then merrily go through the pockets. The idea is you're wearing a jacket to match the season/weather so removing it shouldn't be necessary.
Last time I was in the Ritz a jacket and tie were required.

So there is some substance to what my friend said and I did show myself up. I suppose when my error was pointed out, I should of course, have stepped outside and shot myself with my service revolverLast time I was in the Ritz a jacket and tie were required.

A swift search for the same date next year:
I take your point - (however that's not a suite)But I wouldn't know how much other hotels are so far in advance.
On a like for like basis, the Ritz isn't cheap.
Shall we move on?
That's not a suite, but it's not the £375 I paid either.
Out of interest, here's a map of what other hotels are charging for the same night. Granted, the Ritz isn't competing with Travel Lodge, but nor is it the most expensive.
Now we can move on.

I can't read that image. On a night that i can get a room for 295 as per your post above the suite is 600 quid.
In January any number of top 5 star hotels will be under 300 quid a night.
My point remains that the Ritz cannot be considered relatively inexpensive.
Unless you are Charlie Big Potatoes of course.
Edit: 375 for a junior suite and a bottle of pop would qualify as a cracking deal in any top 5 star hotel in London.

I didn't at any point say it was inexpensive. I said it isn't THAT expensive compared to other London Hotels - which that image illustrates if you could be bothered to click on it.
As this is a shoe thread, what shoes did you wear? I'm guessing they are rather strict on all aspects of attire and shoes would be no exception?

The only footwear that they won't allow in the bar or restaurant is trainers.

Can't remember. Very probably some Russell and Bromley toe cap Oxfords, or maybe some Gucci loafers to breakfast.

I imagined them to enforce a stricter dress code than that though no trainers is fair enough. It does however, leave the door wide open for some absolute monstrosities which could well look worse than trainers. The only footwear that they won't allow in the bar or restaurant is trainers.

I bought some nike tanjun's in new york, can't seem to find them here, did they release them in uk?
Yeah, the Tanjun is available in the UK. Sports Direct do them. Nike has released a lot of Roshe-esque trainers in the past while; the Tanjun, the Juvenate and Kaishi all spring to mind. Of those the Tanjun is the cheapest (based on what I've seen), but they're by no means awful. As for the guy with the Yeezy Boost 350 - fair play to you if they're legit. I certainly couldn't pay the resale price for a pair. Do they have a receipt with them? A lot of fake pairs have been sold with Foot Locker receipts for whatever reason. While I'd like to think they're legit too, I am cautious purely because of how many fake pairs I see.

The jacket sleeves are on the long side as well, though your friend on the right is guilty also.
Can the PH high priests of sartorial etiquette help me with this one? I went to a reasonably posh place for Sunday dinner, it was a hot day so I took off my suit jacket and hung it over the back of the chair. Err no, your supposed to leave the jacket on but unbutton it. I wasn't wearing a tie if that's any mitigation(or it just makes it worse?)
Can't use the correct version of 'you're', therefore whatever you did was inappropriate as it shows lack of breeding Can the PH high priests of sartorial etiquette help me with this one? The sleeves should show around 1/2 inch of cuff when standing. Can the PH high priests of sartorial etiquette help me with this one? Leave the jacket on but unbutton it? with a correctly fitting single breasted suit you should not be able to sit down with it done up! if you can then the jacket is too big. In terms of etiquette there isn't any when it comes to lounge suits but with black tie the coat should stay on until the host removes theres so often those rules are extended to lounge suits if someone is hosting.
