A decent suit shouldn't have a belt
Whilst we all know this, there's something just plain odd about wearing a pair of trousers without a belt.

It feels like something is missing!

I'd say the majority of my collection is Adidas as well, but I do have more Nike trainers than I did a year ago. There are a pair or two fit for the bin, like a pair of Cortez where the sole is splitting (I gravitate towards 'heritage' styles), but the majority of my collection is in blue boxes with three stripes.

The Spezial is one style I don't have though I remember seeing a really striking pair in Bluebird, with the gum sole. If that's still available I might be persuaded to open the wallet. I don't think I could pull off the Nikes you've posted though!
My Spezials are traditional black / white stripe and gum sole. I used to wear Sambas, but these are much more comfortable and have a much grippier sole.

The Nikes are a bit of an indulgence. I used to sell trainers as a Saturday boy when those were new and about 90 quid a pair. Needless to say I never owned them back then - so when I saw the re-release, I had to have them. My wife says I look like an ageing 80s American rock band member if I team them with skinny jeans and a band t-shirt, though!

Well it is hehe and unless you are a rich kid then we all grow up with school uniforms and stuff with belts but you get used to it. Agreed, it does feel odd at first though.

I recently went to an event in Glasgow and in another part of the venue there was a gay night on. The outdoor/smoking area was communal.

Never (well OK, once 15+ years ago) having been to a gay night I literally could not believe some of the 'outfits'. It would have been funny had the PH tweed and brogues brigade been there to cast their critical eye...

Fat old men in leather thongs and fk me boots? Not sure how many rules that breaks.

Is your Google not working? smile

Boots, usually black, usually high (for women). In this case as they were men they didn't have heels but they were definitely fk me boots. I thought Glasgow's girls dressed like sluts but this was something else entirely.

Meanwhile I had a Kappa tracksuit from 1995 on. It was a strange clash of cultures. smile

Ah I see.

I haven't heard them called that before particularly in this context hence my reluctance to google. hehe

It's okay, you don't need to explain to us.

Exactly, each to their own. Just remember, if you can't be good, be safe.

a M2M or bespoke suit shouldn't have a belt as the intention is that it fits you perfectly. The stigma of the belt (for some) is that you are advertising that you bought off-the-peg and it doesn't quite fit. That said, I think suit trousers look weird without a belt and I am sure I am not alone. The last M2M suit I had made i spec'd belt loops. If the suit looks good and fits well then that's the main thing. If you've got an awful baggy suit with wrong length legs and arms then a belt isn't going to cause or solve your problems.

not sure it breaks rules... it just defines a whole new rule book! I am sure even in that context you get people looking at each other and nudging their mate saying "look at the fking state of that guy over there". All relative again!
