Sorry 13m, I have to agree with arsenalmorris.
Perhaps for £50, but £300!?
I can understand the method/craftsmanship behind Loake, Church's, Cheaney etc and consequently their price point over and above a regular pair from Clarks.
Where does the £300+ price tag come from versus a decent pair of Nike, Adidas etc especially for such a 'generic' design.
TBH all their shoes look utter gash: http://www.prada.com/en/GB/e-store/department/man/...

Well, I haven't owned a pair of Prada trainers. I have however owned some from "Adidas, Nike etc etc" in the past. THEY have been poor quality tat. I get the feedback about the Pradas that they aren't and last a long time.
Your previous shoe posts, to the best of my recollection, show you to be a man of some taste, and by definition a man of reasonable means.Without any intention of twisting the knife further, those are to my eye; ugly. The Prada badge only makes it worse. My personal reaction to seeing those would be the thought; "Dumb ass bought those ugly looking foot rags just because of the label. More money than taste."
I would suggest that you could as easily afford 2-3 pairs of competitors trainers for the money those will cost, so longevity isn't really a serious practical consideration.
However, it's your money, and your feet, and if you like them then; screw all of us here. You have them, and you enjoy them
For all anyone can say, you may report back in 3 months time saying; "most comfortable shoes I've ever owned", "transformed me into a driving god; Mercedes have invited me to try out for the F1 team", "eight beautiful women have offered me their bodies in the last week alone".

Do I want these or not, I cannot decide.
They are a cross between a shoe, trainer and driving shoe.
I saw them in Italy recently and nearly bought them, now a local shop has them at 25% off. They're still £300 though, which is a lot of money if I end up not wearing them.
What is the opinion of the PH shoe
These would be perfect for that walk between the Day Centre and the mini bus that takes you the sea sideThey are a cross between a shoe, trainer and driving shoe.

You have hit the nail on the head actually. I like the trainers because they have a certain Itaian style that I think can look well if done correctly. A pair of slim jeans, leather jacket and some Italian shoes is a look I appreciate.
The flip side being there is the risk of looking like a mid-ranking drug dealer with more disposable tenners than good taste. I also suspect they roll out a factory in Taiwan at under a tenner a pair, though probably twice the cost of most mainstream brands.
I have tried them on twice and not bought them, which I think should tell me they aren't for me.
I also think I am going to spend the next couple of weeks planning my Autumn / Winter wardrobe and decide whether something like that really fits.

Trust me they don't. I buy most of my shoes out the back of the Mail on Sunday and on any given day I have the choice of walking 2.5" taller, with pain-free bunions or wearing "the most comfortable shoes in the world". Those Prada trainers would bomb if purveyed from the nether sections of the Sunday tabloids.
Its your money and your own personal taste, but for me they look cheap and pretty nasty. If you like them then get them.I'll stick this here rather than open a new thread, all the shoe mavens seem to be here: I'm toying with getting some suede Chelsea boots and I'm drawn to some RM Williams; I like the wholecut design and I've read they used to very well made but I've also heard they were taken over by some Humongocorp. and the price seemed to have jumped up. Are they worth the £100.00-£150.00 over something similar from Loake? And what's the consensus on the toe design, chisel or rounded? Pics will be posted if purchased and you might get some Wolfrace towers carpet action too.

What is the opinion of the PH shoe collective?
You don't want these. A very dated Prada design. They do some much better designs. Have a look at the Prada outlet at Bicester, they have always got a good selection..They are a cross between a shoe, trainer and driving shoe.

Italian style?
Planning your winter wardrobe?
I'm not convinced you're being entirely serious.

Can't wait! Are we talking pure wool velvet finish, or some entry level felt backed nonsense? I've heard that RM Williams are pretty good but I have no experience of them or the price changes. In your position, I would probably have a look around the factory shops and would end up with something from Crockett & Jones or Trickers.
EDIT: These Tricker's in the sale are absolutely amazing. You will not get anything better for that price.

Very few makers offer a wholecut Chelsea boot. I am not fan of Chelsea boots personally but if I was I would consider nothing other than a wholecut as the unsightly seam below the gusset spoils the lines and shows a lack of skill or attention to detail. If the difference for the seamless is only £100-£150 then I doubt very much that there would be a quantifiable difference in quality between brands at that price point so I would definitely go for the RM Williams.
Suede is a nice way to dress any shoe/boot down so my opinion would be rounded toe as chisel is more dressy.
You didn't ask but definitely leather soles too.
