My favourite at the moment is the Loake Gable....

Nice soft calf leather, fabulous sole unit that flexes and is comfy from day one.

£195 retail.
I really like the look of those; just what I'm after. Are there discounts to be had?

Sadly not. I'm a 45/10.5.

Nice find! Of all the 2015 Island Series shoes the Jamaica seems to be the most desirable, and there are eBay sellers who are charging eye-watering prices for them as a result. One for my "intended to buy and simply never did" list. It's not like we get the weather for yellow in Northern Ireland, I tell myself.

i'm looking for some decent quality, well made dark/mid brown oxfords for work, sub £200. I can imagine the adidas crew will all be rolling their eyes at this but can someone else assist please? ta

Maybe it's just me, but do they have a wiff of the NHS about them?

There's plenty left for sale around the £50 mark I've seen online. I've just added another pair of Nike Free to the collection as they were having a sale + 20% discount voucher code on the website, £58 all in.

I think most shoes with rubber soles look a bit "special"

Yep, ordered them to the UK and used code QUID20 for the additional discount.

I'm inclined to agree. I think boots look more acceptable but leather is always my preferred choice for appearance.

That's fair enough, but dainite is, in general, a much more usable and practical alternative to leather, especially for the less-urban of us.

I bought these yesterday.

Dune. Came with both blue and brown laces. I thought I'd take it to the edge with blue!

Crew. Very light.

No doubt that is correct though consider Dainite has been available in its current form for over 100 years and yet is very seldom seen on vintage shoes or boots.

I doubt many Dainite owners subject their shoes to conditions where leather would fail or even give any cause for concern that would be overcome by the rubber alternative.

Dainite undoubtedly should offer more practicality though this is at the expense of aesthetics and tradition though the merits of both are down to individual preference.

Horses for courses really.
