The Athens will sell out straight away so there will be people trying to sell / make a profit straight after release as usual. Got both the Moscow and St petersberg Gor-tex Gazelle's on order as they are an Xmas present so can't have them yet haha, good luck with the Athens. Hope you manage to sort a pair. Little tip..... get the size app on your phone and keep refreshing about 7:42-7:49 as they will appear on there early and will be sold or by the time they are meant to go on sale at 8am
I'll be using the size app on 2 phones, 2 iPads and checking the website through the Surface simultaneously, I am desperate for a pair of these. I just hope my fears that they look a bit thin and hard like the Stockholm's aren't realised. And I won't be profiteering on eBay!W00DY said:
Adidas teamed up with a tyre manufacturer to make a shoe which everyone else assumed was fastened with velcro?
Oh yes, those do sound like the pinnacle of style.
Frankly, I couldn't give a toss what anyone else assumes. I dress for me and me alone.Oh yes, those do sound like the pinnacle of style.
Stylish trainers is a bit of an oxymoron imo.
Having had a look about online, I cannot find quite what I want shoe-wise. But based upon appearance alone, I think these two are the closest:
C&J Norwich derby.
Loake Abberline
To be honest, I prefer the look of the Loake. But I am concerned that it won't wear well. The C&Js will be better quality, but I don't think the shape is so good.
I haven't bought Loake shoes for donkey's years and when I last did they weren't very good - stiff for ages, then briefly comfortable before splitting. Worth giving them another try, or buy the C&Js?

Yep, ordered them to the UK and used code QUID20 for the additional discount.
Wow, that's already expired. First time I went on the site, another code popped up, but hasn't in any subsequent visit.I wonder if it's like the airline companies, where they put prices up when your browser revisits.

Nice. Assume you're preparing for the XC season?
I bloody hate XC, but it's part and parcel of being in a running club, sadly.
Yeah, sadly worn a hole in the liner of my 3's so figured it's time to try the 4's. Generally prefer XC to road but the next one's got some nasty hills in it.I bloody hate XC, but it's part and parcel of being in a running club, sadly.

ide legged but straight so they're baggy on the thigh and straight down, often too short, sometime too high waisted, sometimes long in the arse. Usually stonewashed.
Dad jeans are too short? I always thought dad jeans were too long and bunched up at the hem. As for the visible sock, that's normal is it not?Fittster said:
Those are from the 'Design Loake' range. Made in India using corrected grain leather, which is reflected in the price but it would be unfair to compare them with a pair of C&J at getting on for 3 times the price.
I am more interested in the design to be honest. The Loakes look better to my eye, and with the intended purpose being to go with quite narrow trousers I wonder if the C&Js are to chunky.95% of the shoes I like are only available with leather sole, which is why I am struggling a bit to find what I want.

I don't think there's a set definition, I've seen both which could be considered dad jeans.Visible sock might be normal for most. Not for me.

What makes a dad jean
Wide legged but straight so they're baggy on the thigh and straight down, often too short, sometime too high waisted, sometimes long in the arse. Usually stonewashed. To be fair they may or may not be, they look at bit dark for the usual. What they definitely do is showcase my pet hate. Visible laces. Big ugly loops flopping about into the bargain. And guaranteed when he sits a good couple of inches of sock.
The best laced trainer I ever bought was some Adidas/Goodyear collab where they had a flap covering the laces altogether. Been through some Diesel no laced jobs too. Just looks so much neater.
I don't really care about visible laces and max an inch of sock when I sit. For me, smart jeans should just touch the shoe/trainer when standing and then some, but not look baggy, which results in a cm or two of sock when sitting. These jeans fit that perfectly.
Anyway, enough of my dad jeans!!

Good luck mate. As I say get on they app on your phone 20 mins before 8am then keep refreshing and they will go on early, I have never missed a pair so far doing this.
All being well I'll be joining you in trying to secure a pair of Athen on Friday morning! If I don't manage it I might grab a pair of Milano as a consolation prize. But I want those Athen.

Pink isn't a lady colour, or a gay colour.
Quite right sir!Off the top of my head;
I have at least one bright pink shirt, and one more subdued lighter pink.
Three neck ties incorporating substantial pink, and one that is entirely a shade of pink.
A pink and white (as well as a lilac and white) bow tie(s).
A navy blue suit (very '30s gangster I am told) with bright pink pinstripe (and matching pink lining).
A light blue jacket / blazer with a bright pink pinstripe (with cranberry lining).
At least three pairs of blue and pink socks.
Any gentleman lacking a reasonable presence of pink in his wardrobe must surely have something to hide?
That said, I'm not keen on the trainers either, but they're hardly worth a negative comment. I had assumed they were intended for some sort of game involving the kicking of a round ball, in which case the colour will change soon enough.
Anyway, this is the shoe thread. As Monsieur CharlesdeGaulle has suggested; Stick to criticising the carpets!

Personally, I prefer the cleaner look of the C&J, aside from the apparently squarish toe.C&J Norwich derby.

Any ideas on where I can get a box to post my shoes back to Loake?
I don't have the original (which they say they won't return anyway!), and I don't seem to have anything else in the house I could put them in!

Those C&J look superb, wish I had £400! The Loakes should be fine quality wise, I've had mine 18 months so far and aside from a puncture to the sole they still look great.C&J Norwich derby.
