Absolutely cracking service from END clothing, I ordered around 3pm yesterday, selected free economy delivery which said delivery around the 27th of December, arrived at 8am this morning with DPD.

So, it's Chelsea boot month at Wolfrace towers. I was only planning to buy one pair of boots,
either a light brown or dark brown suede pair but my indecision coupled with black Friday and cyber Monday
saw me ending up with two pairs, RM Williams comfort craftsman and Loake 1880 Chatsworth. I got roughly
£60.00 off the Loakes and £50.00 off the RM's, quite chuffed with the latter as their prices seem pretty
keenly controlled. Of the two I'd say the RM's are the most comfy, indeed they are probably the most
comfortable 'proper' shoes I own: The Loakes are by no means uncomfortable but are edged out slightly.
The major difference is the construction, the RM Williams being a wholecut, no line of stitching to see
beneath the elastic gusset which makes them to me at least a whole lot sleeker looking, though that lack of
stitching comes at a cost of £130.00 at rrp's.
For some reason RM Williams seem to be the only mainstream maker who do a wholecut Chelsea boot, is it a
particularly skilled operation? I don't know but even some high end English makers don't use it on their
regular lines

Gaziano & Girling are the only other maker I am aware of who make their Chelsea boots with no side seams.particularly skilled operation? I don't know but even some high end English makers don't use it on their

It is a far more skilful process to create a wholecut Chelsea boot. A standard wholecut shoe is not that difficult these days with even mid tier makers offering such but a wholecut boot is more difficult owing to the process known as "blocking" which is required for the extra height on boots which is made more difficult when using one piece of leather.
As a rule of thumb the less seams the more skill involved, though some seams require far more skill than others and some are actually far more difficult to execute than a wholecut so there is always the exception to the rule.
I personally see no reason why you would want side seams on a Chelsea boot form either a functional or aesthetic standpoint.

They're like old school hiking boots. But with a funky saw tooth sole. Perhaps he could pierce loads of little holes and stick some Harris tweed on and say they're barkers?

They truly are horrific. There have been some horrors posted in this discussion, but I think you're the winner of the most 'special' shoes by a fair margin.

Cheers, I prefer my Trickers when pairing with tweed

Morning all,
I want to surprise my better half with a really nice pair of leather boots. Now, the usual suspects (Loake, Barker, Cheaney) have smaller ranges for ladies.

This is what I know she'd ideally like - although they're a touch too expensive at the moment. Anywhere else I should be looking? Budget is in the £200 max range.
Cheers
