bob-lad - do you mind giving a ball-park figure for the cost of the re-sole please? Happy to PM if you prefer.

It was £95, which I think is reasonable. It took the 6 weeks they predicted.I had put them through some unnecessarily crappy usage over the past 4 years. If one ignores purchase price, and refurb every 4 years or so, that's a running cost of £25pa to keep in tip top condition. Which in man-maths is almost free. Put them on a bigger rotation with less bad weather usage and hopefully they'll last longer.

I've given up on Loakes though - Been disappointed too many times as the fit just doesn't work with me and I've had to send them all back.

Quick update on my new Loake Reading Brouge boots.
They are a fabulous high quality shoe, and I general I am very pleased with them.
However, there is one big problem.
It's the laces, they are awful.
Like many new pairs of shoes I have purchased recently it seems the laces are the weak link in the chain, but these are really bad.
For a start they are far too thin, but the real issue is they are made of that very waxy and slippery material, which means no matter what type of not you use, and however itighly you pull them, they just manage to work themesleves undone very quickly.
So they are the first thing to change, despite being very happy with the shoes.
Any suggestions on a good quality set of laces that won't work loose?

When you put the rabbit ear down through the hole take it round and put it down again then pull tight. Will never loosen. :-) The end of double knotting your shoes forever.
And considerably tidier

Can it be made compulsory that you have to give the make and name of any new shoes you post? Failure to comply will lead to the Mods coming round to your house and showing you a new way to wear said shoes.13m said:
