Can it be made compulsory that you have to give the make and name of any new shoes you post? Failure to comply will lead to the Mods coming round to your house and showing you a new way to wear said shoes.13m said:

Agreed. It's all a bit pointless otherwise.Regarding those LVs, get some shoe trees in there!
To the guy that sent the PM about how I dyed my boots, here is a rough guide as to how I did it:
1) Clean your boots to get any muck off. (Brushing, saddle soap, damp rag or whatever you use)
2) When dry, apply some 100% Acetone to a cotton ball and wipe all over the leather surface. Allow to dry and repeat. Don't rub hard or you might ruin the leather
3) Clean on old yogurt pot and squirt in about 1 tablespoon of Lexol leather conditioner
4) Wearing some latex gloves, pour in some Feibings oil dye into the Yogurt pot and mix well. (Approx 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon of dye depending on the intensity of colour you want.
5) Evenly paint the dye/conditioner solution onto your boots using a wide artists brush
6) Reapply until you reach the shade you want. It will usually need at least 2 coats as the first looks a little streaky. You could start with a more "dilute" dye mix and add more dye to the pot if it's not dark enough.
7) Once dry, use a rag to wipe away any dye residue that hasn't been absorbed
8) Apply your usual cream polish. I use Saphir
9) Post the results on PH
DISCLAIMERS:
This worked OK for me, but I can't say if it will work on other shoes/boots
If your leather is "corrected grain" or coated shiny stuff, don't bother trying as it wont absorb anything
Technically, I think you are supposed to finish with a special acrylic sealer product to keep the dye in. I haven't use this but the results seem fine. I haven't got the boots very wet since though.
Do NOT get the leather dye over your Wife's prized table decorations. She will kick your ass.

They look like Louis Vuitton but I don't recognise the model.Agreed! Sorry, yes the are LV, I can't see a model or name on em. They came in the wee silly yellow bags, so no box to check.

I got them ages ago though, maybe last Feb or March, so not really new anymore, but I've only started weraring them. They had this burgundy/kinda ox blood or black. They were both nice.

They're a bit narrow, and they cut into my heels. Very painful.
They're nice looking, but not something I'd want to walk around all day in. The LV are much better. Possibly the rubber sole?
(I know some people hate em)
My Guccli loafers are like slippers comfort-wise and I have wide feet. However I do take half a size bigger in Gucci. Perhaps you are the same. They're nice looking, but not something I'd want to walk around all day in. The LV are much better. Possibly the rubber sole?

Can't decide if these would be good for driving in my old classics (1933 & '58) with jeans or if they're a bit naff? Zara driving shoes...
Naff. Mainly due to the sole. But do they really look like period racing shoes? Google suggests they just wore normal shoes in the 30s
In the pic from '58 Le Mans. Look like very think black boots. Not a Brogue with a daft sole

It's a brown brogue, therefore it has instant appeal to most users of this forum. But do they really look like period racing shoes? Google suggests they just wore normal shoes in the 30s

I wonder what would happen if Adidas combined the Gazelle sole with a brogue upper which incorporated the 3-stripes. I'm convinced we'd see some critical mass event.

Indeed, naff it is then, they can stay on eBay!
Now, I wonder if Addidas make driving shoes?
I like driving in Sambas. But I also find Chuck Taylors (the originals) are also good driving shoes. Now, I wonder if Addidas make driving shoes?
The advantage of both being that you don't look like a cock when you get out of the car.

Other shops available. For what you want, you don't need full FIA fireproof. Just karting ones most likely

The best driving shoes are either
Onitsuka Tigers
With a notable heap of praise for
Reebok Classics

Actually what I want went in the dustbin a few weeks ago. A lovely old pair of Church brogues, I bought about 30 years ago. They'd been re-soled a few times and had worn quite thin. I could feel the pedals perfectly through them. I don't want race boots (i was being mildly facetious) so I'll just have to wear down another pair of leather shoes. Trouble is that at 60 I'll be 80 before a new pair have work thin! I'm light on my feet
