Personally, I would apply a light coat of Saphir neutral cream polish before wearing them outside to give some basic protection against the rain.
Thanks. I have Saphir Renovateur, is that the stuff you mean?

Reno would be fine for that first coat.

I was however talking about the cream polish that also comes in a range of colours. There is a neutral version which looks exactly the same as your reno jar but the white contents is a bit thicker.

My Loakes have just punctured and split (about 1cm) through the sole to my sock. Only found out because my sock was getting wet frown

Although this could now be an excuse for a new pair!

Yes aware of that, I think they only resole though, my understanding was if it's worn all the way through to the inside it's gone.

Although you're right, no harm in asking.

They cut off the whole sole and completely replace, including a general refurbishment of the shoe - there's a video of the process somewhere (their website?)

My Loake Reading boots arrived today to go with the afore posted Ted Baker trainers. That's it, no more tan shoes for me for a looong time!

I've got those, a lovely pair of boots. smile

My Loake brogues aren't wearing too fast, but when the time comes, any idea of the cost of re-soleing?

I can't see any pricing on there, and I can't be bothered to call them. I'm assuming around £50.

Samba SPZL has arrived!

First impressions are that I really like them; from a fit and finish perspective they set the bar high for other SPZL releases in future. The only thing I'm not so sure about is the insole in the left shoe, which is lifting a bit because, I assume, the glue did not set properly. I think it'll bed down with wear, but otherwise, I'm impressed with these.

Comparing them to the standard Samba Super silhouette there are a few differences, mostly in the shape of the toebox and the vamp. It might be because they're a new style I haven't seen often, but I think I prefer the SPZL shape at the moment. Time will tell.

They're really nice. I almost went for a pair but thought they were a little expensive when they came out. A bit of a bargain now though

How bizarre! On my work computer I didn't get any of that text, just some photos with links asking me to subscribe to their newsletter. Thanks all...

Speaking of Samba's I got these today

Samba SPZL, less that half price at £43 glad I waited for them in the sale now

They'll likely get more expensive now - worn by Ewan McGregor in T2
