Every once in a while someone has an "I'm offended" bleat about the shoe bantz. Off to your safe shoe space with you.

I've been trying to find an alternative work shoe for a while; not really wanting to spend Barkers money for work, but in two minds about the reasonable, comfortable, commando-soled, but slightly "available on prescription" Clarks I often default to. So I wandered into a Jones the Boot in Bath, to find a totally different range of shoes from that in Jones in Bristol, between the two price ranges, and all of them seemed to fit me. Reeling, I bought two pairs.

I half expect to return to Bath to buy more, only to be unable ever to find that shop door again!
I expect it was the smaller of the two in Bath, on Cheap Street.<<SNIP>>>

Starting from Milsom Street, as everyone knows where that is, go down to the bottom and follow the road left into Bond Street. 50-100 yards on the right is Union Passage. Go past the Royal Volunteer Rifleman's, cross the road and continue down the Passage, past the Corridor. When you get to the end of the Passage, Jones Bootmakers is in front of you.

Nice.
I have wondered about getting something similar but I am not sure whether a gentleman over 50 should wear trainers of any description. What do you think?
I'm 3 years off 50 and think they're fine for informal wear with jeans or chinos and make a change from the usual desert boots or brogues. I have wondered about getting something similar but I am not sure whether a gentleman over 50 should wear trainers of any description. What do you think?
I especially like the plain unbranded look but good quality materials and manufacture.

How the hell can a Shoe thread descend into bickering and slander......Unreal!
Agreed!Anyway, returning to shoes, my new ultra-wide (H fitting) and 'half a size too big' Barkers are flapping about on my smaller left foot, and squashing my little toe on my wide right foot . I can fix the loose left shoe with insoles, but has anybody had any luck with shoe stretchers like this https://www.afinepairofshoes.co.uk/products/dasco-...

I had a similar problem with a pair of Loakes. 48h with a peeled potato cut to shape and wedged in there fixed it. Surprisingly it dried out OK and I don't smell of chips when I walk.Anyway, returning to shoes, my new ultra-wide (H fitting) and 'half a size too big' Barkers are flapping about on my smaller left foot, and squashing my little toe on my wide right foot .
