I try to follow this rule:
THOU SHALT NEVER, EVER, WEAR PANTALOONS DE NIMES. When you have progressed beyond fondling girls in the back seats of cinemas, you can stop wearing jeans. Wear fabrics appropriate to your age, and, who knows, you might even get a quick fumble in your box at the opera.
However occasionally I think it's acceptable. I'm quite tempted by Hiut Denim http://hiutdenim.co.uk does anyone own a pair and like to share their views?
In other news at a Christmas meal yesterday and in the cracker was a travel shoe horn. Result!!
Those jeans, that website what a load of pretentious codswallop. "History tag" ffs! Honestly. Such a load of crap. I bet there is no one who owns a pair of those that isn't a wker.THOU SHALT NEVER, EVER, WEAR PANTALOONS DE NIMES. I have a number of pairs of Replay jeans. Like them a lot.
Me too. I got mine two pairs for ten pounds off the market. It says "Reply" on the back and the stall holder said they were cheap because they had a batch with bad spelling. The snow wash ones are my favourites.

OK, who got some new shoes for Christmas then? Someone must have!
Not me but I did get the CT shoe tree for a pair of shoes. And just ordering another, Going to brave the sales tomorrow to shoe hunt for some barkers or loakes, although I've seen a black and white pair of churches for not a lot wouldn't know when to wear them but need a second pair of decent work shoes so will brace the carnage. A trip to TK Maxx has been productive.
Among other things, found some Loake Bromley Brogues (Goodyear welted rubber sole) for £99.
Just like these:
Not convinced on the rubber soles and the leather seems a bit tough. Undecided whether to keep them as yet.

They do look rather nice, especially for £99!Among other things, found some Loake Bromley Brogues (Goodyear welted sole) for £99.

I don't have a pair of Loakes yet. I read several reviews on the Debenhams site that the leathers are a bit too stiff though (a different model to the one you bought). I'm not sure if this is a fault with Loakes materials or whether the typical Debenhams shoppers usually go for cheaper, non welted shoes though. I know Loakes have a big following on PH.

The leather seems very stiff and not very soft/supple. I assume over time this will improve and mould to the feet as and when the shoes are broken in.
The rubber sole might actually be useful as I'll need to wear them in the rain. Moreover, I don't have the luxury of multiple pairs of shoes and the option to let them 'rest' between wears.
The soles look like this:
Which although not elegant may be more practical.
Would like to hear from the shoe aficionados as to their opinion.
