Shoving your foot into a trainer without socks can turn things into a sweaty mess that odor-eaters wouldn't stand a chance against.

Tube socks for the win! biggrin

They keep my legs warm and feel great. hehe

Seeing as there are a few trainer people here- anyone any idea where I can find a pair of Lacoste Flex II? I bought mine in 1999 and they're showing their age now. *Understatement- they have been utterly fked for several years but are hands down the most comfortable trainer I've ever bought and I still wear them in the house.

I've asked in a few Lacoste shops but the last time at the airport the assistant said they were almost older than he was so he didn't have a clue. Cheeky wee .

Christ, they are a blast from the past if this is them...

I can ask on a couple of buying and selling groups I am a member of but it is mainly for clothes, the trainer pages are mainly for ///Adidas styles. But if none turn up, I think they look similar in style to Nike Cortez in terms of sole and upper design, so if it's a comfort thing maybe you could try something like this...?

anyone own the lo-top verson? I have two high top versions and while I like them (one is rather umcomfortable as its not worn in, any tips?) they're not easy to take off and on.

I've had more pairs of hi's and lo's than I can even count! I think the comfort thing just comes from making sure you make sure the tongues are completely covering the space behind the laces whilst you wear them in.

Can't help with the lacing up, I think it would require some kind of black magic to slip the hi tops on and off.

Great to see some proper shoes FreeLitres, and I love a smart shoe as much as anybody, but any reason you have quite so many quite similar shoes?

Or is it 'just because'? If so, I get it, but that can get to be an expensive hobby!

It's mainly 'just because'! As a minimum, you could get away with perhaps one black and one brown pair. The more pairs you have, the more the wear is spread between them and the longer they last! (Man-maths at it's finest)

To be fair, at first glance they may look similar but in the flesh they are quite different. For example, roughly half have got leather soles and half have rubber dainite soles for the winter. One is a heavy country brogue, one is a monk strap. Some are from trendy elongated lasts, some are more traditional rounded toe etc.

I had a similar problem finding some older style Lacoste trainers I bought in Finland, of all places, but only in 2008. They're knackered now but were very comfortable. E36Guy took the piss out of me for wearing them to Le Mans in 2013, because they're white, but they went in the washing machine on my return - even though they were leather - and were as good as new afterwards. I can't find a suitable replacement. frown

....BUT, I'm still wearing some fully fledged "Forrest Gump" Nike Cortez '30' from 2002 - left heel has '72' embroidered on it, right heel shows '02'. paperbag

Thanks! Probably my favorite looking pair and the most comfortable too.

For reference, they are Church Lanark in Walnut Nevada Calf.

I got a pair of Lanarks too, ones on the right, and they are comfy but my favourites are the two on the left, Walcot, now discontinued unfortunately.
