It is nice to see the variation on this thread and part of the fun of a purchase for me is the banter on here.
I absolutely agree.

I see shoes on here I already have, some on here I like, some on here I know I'd never buy, and some that make me wonder if maybe I should. The eclectic selection and banter (and, when you need it, buying and care advice) is what makes the thread an amusing distraction.
Couldn't agree more.

I met a delightful chap at the 1-5 thread meet a week or two back (link to the next one here if anyone can make it - barge absolutely not necessary):

Funny how you really notice decent shoes.

They have creased very evenly and I can imagine them wearing very well. thumbup

It's nice to see an update after a few wears - they nearly always look so much better.

Seeing as we're all in a back slapping mood, that's some jolly nice flooring you've got there as well!

I love trainers but some of the shockers on here!

It's a fun thread, and it makes me feel quite conservative in my own shoe choice.

Which I think is a good thing considering hehe
I hope none of this comment is aimed at my Adidas examples smile

On a serious note and after reading other comments I am also a huge fan of this thread and the different things people buy and wear is very interesting (sometimes disturbing ha)

Ah, yes. I was going to but have been somewhat distracted, nay blinded by those yellow trainers smile

And one of them on their own.

Why can't there be more threads like this.

PHer says someone had some decent shoes on at a PH meet.

PHer reads thread and posts pic of said shoes.

Very gentlemanly and how it should be.

Was in Clarkes outlet on Saturday tempted by a pair of loakes but what put me off was the price was still quite high and they all said made in India in them. I take it these are outlet specials ?

or are most loakes made in India now ?

I think it's the lifestyle range (cemented) which are certainly at the lower end of Loakes' price scale but some of Design range (GY welt) too. They're all pretty good shoes though.
1880 etc are still made in Northamptonshire.

Pair of hand welted suede derbys from my new favourite maker.

A long overdue pair of suede shoes and a nice touch are the rounded leather laces.

Now I am firmly in the trainers are very not me, but I really like those blue ones.

Where is the best place to buy this type of <old fogey mode> casual footwear for young people? <old fogey mode off>

I'm a 10.5/45; can one safely order the right size or is it go up/down a bit?

They look like they belong on the feet of the lads that work at the local hand carwash.

I'm yet to post my latest purchase, but I recently decided to get a pair of adidas trainers after being brainwashed by this thread (normally a suede desert boots kinda guy). The variation in sizes was massive trying loads on. I'm usually a ten. One pair I tried I needed to go up to an 11 and they were still too narrow, the pair I ended up buying (Hamburg in brown leather) were a 9! Admittedly tight initially but they've stretched out perfectly and are now like slippers after just a week.

I'd probably go into town and try a few pairs, 'size' seemed to stock plenty of them.

Also love those blue Jeans mkII and nearly bought the topangas instead of the Hamburgs!

They'd go well with your trousers.

Your photo is one of the most British things I've ever seen. Please tell me you were wearing some kind of tweed cap/hat also, but not inside of course. hehe
