Didnt get them in the end.

Anyone recommend anything a bit classier than flipflop to wander around a beach on, my deck shoes are finally dead and I need something else.

Im in Sing this week and Sydney next week.... recommendations please.
Come Haan pinch weekender are a nice, comfy alternative to a deck shoe. Personally can't stand any footwear on sand though.

I'm not sure I'd 'invest' again in 'proper' shoes. I've three pairs now and they are all uncomfortable when walking.
All pinch on the big toe. Every step I think why the he'll did I wear these. Yes they look nice but silly money for something that I can't use for its primary function.
I could buy 5 pairs of comfortable shoes for 1 pair of these torture machines.
yes It is something of an expensive game of Russian Roulette at first. I know which last to buy with Barker now, and I know it isn't worth trying the others again. Whether I do the same for other makes or not, is currently undecided.

For work I have an old favourite with Clarks that I simply mail order in twos (two pairs) and rotate. It's cost effective and comfortable, and I don't care that much about how work shoes look.

Lots of brands of sandals out there.
Timberland makes quite a large range if you want branded. Otherwise Deichmann has a large range at budget prices.
I wouldn't wear the traditional flipflop either. Detestable things.

Looking at the size difference, do they not look more like a his 'n hers set?

I've had a summer obsession with Roman sandals. I have these in white and black also, along with another three pairs of similar styled sandals inc ones with a 4" heel.

Not bad for a fiver.

Also these Aldo ones which I love

They look pretty cool, but uncomfortable for long wear of calves aren't up to it?

Not a picture of new shoes I'm afraid but a question to the collective; what is the view on resoling Church's via their service?

I've heard it is not what it used to be and a decent cobbler might be a better value and quality proposition, especially as I am based in N. London. Any recent real experience would be appreciated. thumbup

No first-hand experience of Church's however, since Prada purchased the company the quality of their shoes has supposedly plummeted. I have not heard about their resoling but it wouldn't surprise me if that has also suffered the same fate and be more expensive into the bargain.

Personally, I would seek out a local cobbler with a good reputation.

Rare shoe buying from me, I'm not a regular in the thread but will have a read...

I couldn't resist the Cheaney's sale today. Also pictured my 2001 Custom Grade split toe Church's which will be kept in service.

Nice shoes. I can see some shoe trees, but have you been using them on the old Church's? They look too creased and curled to me.

They're very comfortable, ideal for club nights. Although I don't intend to wear them for long periods of time or mountaineering.

When in Rome.

Had these new ones on today. Probably not the best footwear for the job I was doing...
