Can I ask a little help?
I have always worn leather soled shoes with jeans both casual and smart and will continue to do so but my diabetes (fat git type) has given me a bit of a problem with my feet so I need some kind of smart shoe with a rubber sole perhaps dainite, which I can wear wet weather/winter trips away.
I probably need 60/40 comfort/style but can`t seem to get my head round it.
any ideas comfort and walking is my priority

i'd argue that making bespoke high-end anything is a massive inefficient enterprise with a market small enough that it would be unlikely to be sufficient in supporting a business on its own.
An astute point.I've been wondering about the relevance of true bepoke in today's world.
Back at the turn of the 20th Century customers were offered different widths for multiple parts of the shoe. i.e. you could have a very narrow heel with a moderate instep and a wide forefoot. Nowadays we are stuck with half sizes and widths that assume if you need a wider forefoot a wider heel is in order.
Streamlining a craft such as shoemaking will always result in a lesser product and all "makers" now streamline every single process to maximize profit which is sadly at the expense of quality.
I would say the difference between RTW and bespoke has never been greater than it is now.

Another thought, apart from the Barker's mentioned above is Solovair. They have the DM style of sole and do a brogue. English made as well. There is also the Dr Marten branded ones but think they are made overseas somewhere.I have always worn leather soled shoes with jeans both casual and smart and will continue to do so but my diabetes (fat git type) has given me a bit of a problem with my feet so I need some kind of smart shoe with a rubber sole perhaps dainite, which I can wear wet weather/winter trips away.

Those Nairns were the go to type but fancied something slightly more stylish if possible
Thanks DK the Solovair look very interesting that`s where I`m trying to go
Give the Barker Grassington a go as well. The Cherry isn't as ugly as it sounds and they are my favourite shoes at the moment...even over the RM Williams boots (the Dynamic Flex soled ones are rubber with a comfy insole if you like the look of them). Thanks DK the Solovair look very interesting that`s where I`m trying to go

Thanks LG another good shout and a couple of hours well spent it`s some sort of rubber soled chukka boot I want so will have a good look.
Just another point with these combined leather/rubber type soles do you think they cope with cleanish footpath dog walking say enough to polish and then look reasonable ?

I was fishing around the web to try and find some Solovair brogues this morning... I thought they might be good for out and about town in the winter. Not the style I'm after but these looked great value so I thought I'd share. £85:
