I've never started on someone for the sake of it, however i'm similarly not the sort of person to say i'll knock you out etc, if i've asked them to leave me alone / stop what they're doing, ps off & they don't there's no prior warning i'll just hit them.
Similarly i have a friend, who is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet, the kind of guy that practically gets on with everyone, however he has a switch & sometimes he just goes off on one, i asked him genuinly the other day why he feels the need just to punch someone, he sees it as, he'll ask them to leave him alone once, if they don't then they deserve it, he put's this down to playing rugby from a young age & it being normal to have a scrap / throw a few punches as it's all forgotten about afterwards.
I don't go out looking for them, or starting them, but i have no problem standing up for myself.
However if i was in the situation where someone had a knife / gun i'd give them what they wanted, cricket bat / baseball bat, i'd hope i'd be quick enough to hit them before they hit me!

Used to get involved in fights regularly when I was younger. Thankfully, I grew up.....

Mainly at university, but nothing major.

Apart from my secret life as a ninja assassin, but that's another story for another time.

Sorry, that was a book I've recently read. Just realized.

hehe

Seriously though, I had quite a few fights when I was younger, always because of drink though, never sober. I lost as many as I won, and had some very severe beatings, not always my fault either.

I used to drink in the Luton branch of the Glasgow Rangers supporters club.

Friday nights used to look like a scene from a Western bar brawl film

Nope.

I've either never been made angry by anyone (because frankly I don't give a fk) or just told people to ps off if they were hot and bothered.

Had a few in my years. One lost me my front teeth and a week of looking like John Merrick. I was outnumbered but doing the valiant thing.
I have far more confrontations and discussions.

Yes, and I would suggest the more you prepare with useful training such as boxing, the better results you will get. That said, there will always be some men who are better prepared, and if you are often disposed towards violence you will fail to enjoy the better things in life.

Not for a long time now, but had some beauties.
As a big bloke, I always seemed to end up with some aggressive short arse, who thought it would be good to show everyone how hard they were by picking on me.
More often than not, I could ignore them and get on with my evening, but sometimes they were just too stupid. I've never started a fight, but I've ended them as quickly as possible.
I've been lucky, and not been hurt.

Never been in a fight since I was at school, but 3 guys did try to mug me in Brixton a couple of years ago - closest I've been to a fight, but given that I froze and very nearly shat myself, I think it would have been pretty one sided.

I was walking down the street, the three guys walking towards me. They stopped infront of me, and the conversation went:

Mugger 1 - What did you just say about my mate?
Me - Huh?
Mugger 1 - What the fk did you just say about my mate? Did you just call my mate a fking ?
Me - oh... no, I didn't say anything (accompanied by the sound of my pants filling)
Mugger 2 - You just called me a fking . Give us your fking wallet
Me - uhhhhhhhh
Mugger 3 - Give us your fking wallet bruv before we fking do you
Me - uhhhhhhhh

At which point a woman screamed at them to "fk off out of it" from the other side of the street. Mugger 2 spat in my face, and they walked off. I stood there dumbstruck. The woman came over and asked if I was OK. I just said "yeah.... thanks for that" and walked to the tube. I was stting myself for about 2 weeks after, any time a group came towards me.

Not very typical of the standard powerfully built, goatee wearing, multiple directorship PH'er - but at least its true.

I'll usually do anything to avoid confrontation, in spite of this I usually get 'started on' more often than not, and for some really bizarre reasons. Remember talking to a bouncer mate of mine who seemed to think that because i'm a reasonably well proportioned bloke every drunk runt wants to have a pop as they see you as a 'prize' as a result i've become pretty good at talking my way out of things, if not, in my experience when diplomacy fails fronting up to aggressive people usually results in them backing down.

I still don't understand the mentality of causing trouble if you're not going to follow through, or the mentality of drunken violent people, no need for it.

I generally manage to avoid fights which I put down to being six two, 18 stone (some muscle, quite a bit of fat!) shaved head and big scar over my left eye that looks just like it was done in a knife fight.

Always the best polcy IMHO as you never know how mental the other bloke is or how many mates he has.

Must admit, in that sort of situation, I doubt even Usain Bolt would catch me! There are times to just run away, when outnumbered is one of them!

I've been in dozens of fights, but all organised and part of sport (MMA). Anyone who deliberately gets in a fight in the street is a bit of an idiot really... for a start you could easily get your skull whacked off the pavement and die, or get stabbed/glassed or something with the same result.

If you want to get in a fight go join an MMA gym - perfectly safe, and a good way to stay fit also whilst having the massive advantage of actually teaching you some skills that will be really useful if some idiot does try and rob or rape you.

Loads when I was at school, partly because it was a rough school and if you didn't stick up for yourself you'd get walked all over, but mainly because my older brother went to the same school and kids in my year who were relatives of kids in his year he'd fought would be out to settle a score.
A few more after I left school too but thankfully I was realising that fighting didn't make you look anything other than a tt. None for a long, long time now thankfully.
I do remember though being shocked at my first 'real' fight in a pub that the 'gentlemens way' of fighting was a load of bks and it was actually all elbows, knees, teeth and headbutting.
